Default AEM F/IC ISSUES, CAR HICCUPS, NEED MAPS, RUNNING TOO RICH -

hey guys,

im at a dyno shop right now trying to get tuned and im sitting in my car right now,

i purchased a PNP harness from boomslang a few days ago, i hooked it up and put a map on the fic and started the car and the started started on the first turn.

now im at the dyno shop and we have the unit hooked up, here is my dilemma,

once the car turns on, the aem f/ic gauges that are built into the program show that my car is sitting at 30 percent throttle and that my rpm's are sitting at 12K on idle !

what's going on ?

has anyone bought a pnp harness from boomslang fabrication ?

someone help me out puh lease !

problem #1 : TPS reading is at a steady 30% while on idle ... wtf ?

problem #2 : RPM reading is off the map at 12K on idle ...

someone please help me out !

The harness is fine. Both problems are caused by lack of calibration when you first plugged in the unit.

Without the engine running, you will need to program the TPS. Click ECU at the top, then Calibration to program the TPS signal. It will tell you to push completley down on the throttle pedal, click ok, then to verify that your foot is off the pedal completely, then click ok. It needs to learn the voltages of your TPS system to properly control your car. That's step one.

Step 2 - There is an RPM calibration setup as well. You will need to hold a steady rpm and click ok. Once you do that, the AEM will correctly read the RPM signal.

Hope that helps.

the tc is supposed to 160HP stock ... i lose about 20 percent power on the dyno im on so if i calculate it all it comes out to about 130 - 135 WITHOUT boost.

we connected the lines and hooked the intercooler back up just now in the garage and did a small run with 7 psi, numbers are low as hell, but the car is also running extremely rich ..

the afr stays at about 10.1 to 10.9 for most ofthe run ..

so were gonna lean it out jusssst a bit and see what i get ..

as for my setup, it's a ____ty setup i put together and parted items here and there..

i have a tiny ___ turbo so im not expecting amazing numbers, which is why i'd be happy with 200 - 240 WHP

turbo is a 16g turbo, im running a godspeed type m intercooler and a tial's wastegate set at 7 psi

currently tuning the aem f/ic right now

here is the problem, no matter what we do, the afr wants to stay at 10.1 ....

when we make changes we wait for the aem software to write the changes to the fic and then we do a dyno run, however the run will show the same thing ..

occasionally something will change however, im literally making no power because im running so rich ..

once i go into boost it goes down to 10.1 afr and the highest it goes is 10.9 ....

so like i dont know what the heck im gonna do ..

i cant find a decent tuner this side of california.

church's doesnt help cause when i go there i feel like i get no ansewers when i ask questions.

and everyone else doesnt seem to know what there doing.

can anyone recommend anything ?

wierd...I didn't have to calibrate mine.
Did I send you my maps for the f/ic? if so, which one are they tuning off of?
If they are unfamiliar with teh f/IC, and they are using the "sue" map, they wont' get anywhere cause it was tuned like a greddy.

Load up the "X" or "C" map so your tuner gets an idea of how the f/ic is supposed to be tuned.

I loaded up the "C" map that you gave me mr.meaty,

and the tuner tuned off of that map, however it runs extremely rich after about 4K rpm, it sits at around 10.1 ish the whole way up .

here is another problem im having, right now when i drove my GF home, i was driving at about 70 mph, steadily, and i noticed the car was hiccuping, i dont know if it's like mis firing or leaning out or what the hell is going on ..

im terrified now because im afraid to drive the damn thing, it wasn't doing that when i drove it home from the tuning shop earlier today, now it is.

meaty, who tuned your car ?

who do you recommend ?

i dont know what to do .. at this point i feel like removing the whole turbo kit and giving up because im scared of driving it and i can't be without my daily driver ..

what kind of kit do you have meaty ?

anyone else have any suggesstions ?

I got the turbotoyotas kit with a 54 trim, .63 are garrett turbo and 650cc injectors. prostreet tuned mine, but that shop closed down.

the "C" map is leaner then the "x" map, but i've had issues with that one running to lean after the firmware upgrade.
Did you update the firmware on your f/ic?

Anyway, have you tried the other maps at all? Or have you only tried the "c" map?

I've heard nothing bad about church's so I'm not sure what you mean by you get no answers when you ask questions.
Were you asking him to tune, or just asking for his help?

Honestly, if your near church's, I'd go to him. Not only is he familiar with the f/IC and the tc ecu, but he has tuned many tcs with the f/ic. PLUS he is recomended by Dezod. If THEY trust him with THEIR cars...I'd trust him with mine.

And besides, I think he has a flat rate of $375 or something for tuning tcs with f/ic.

Well...."had" a 16G. But with the 16G at 7 PSI it put down 250/260 whp/wtq. And that was with 10.2-10.3 A/F ratio at WOT.
