AEM F/IC not working

AEM F/IC not working
I installed a zpi stage 1 kit with the AEM F/IC as management over the weekend. Everything went smoothly, but my laptop could not detect the F/IC. I plugged the usb cable into the back of it and started up the AEM program, but it wouldn't load the maps I have and I couldn't connect to the controller. I have a plug and play harness from dezod if that makes a difference. Are there jumpers that need to be set for the tc like the e-manage blue controller has? Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like it may be a USB driver of sorts. They are ready to roll with no jumper or any changes that need to be made. Try un-installing and re-installing the USB drivers and try again.

The F/IC was plugged into the plug and play harness and the car was turned on, engine not running. I thought it might be a usb driver issue, but when I tried reinstalling the new drivers that AEM recommends it had no effect. Have you guys had success with the drivers they link to on their forum?

I did not have any issues with mine. In fact, I was able to connect to it with the unit sitting next to me on the couch, not even plugged into the car! It didnt' keep any of the maps I loaded that way, but it at least detected it.
Are you sure you are usign the right version of the software? Your unit probably has not been flashed yet, so you shoudl used the software on teh disc, not the 2.01 software on AEMs forums yet.

I did try and connect to it out of the car before I installed it, but I couldn't get it to pick it up. I'm going to try and reload the drivers directly from the cd one more time when I get home from work. One thing I noticed is that I can't even load a map (.mdb file) into the program. Are you supposed to be able to load a map without the F/IC plugged in?

Yes. I had the software on my desktop just to see what it looked liek before I got my F/IC. I can run the software and then click "File/Open" and load an .mdb file.
What happens when you try to do that? And what OS are you running?

I'm running windows xp. When I try to load a .mdb file into the window, nothing happens. The file isn't even associated with the program. I have to choose to open it with the program. I've tried dragging and dropping files into the window, and still nothing happens. Any thoughts? That seems like it's definitely a problem...

Possibly. I'll have to try that when I get back. From what I remember, the only buttons that were active were the File/Open and About tab. Nothing became active when I tried to load the map. I know it's not the map because even the map that came with it doesn't load and isn't associated with the program.

I'll try loading all the maps when I get back. I only tried loading the base map and the C map, so I'll give it a shot. I'm getting it tuned this week sometime, so my tuner will probably figure it out if I can't. Thanks for all your help! I'll let you know how it goes.

I ended up running the car without management for a week without any issues. I took it into Church's dyno, and his laptop had no problem connecting with the FIC, so I'm assuming my software is bad. I still can't connect to the FIC from my laptop, but the car is running fine.
