The Greddy base tune is not that great I agree, but it wont throw a rod at low boost off the shelf.

I'd stick with only the Wastegate diagnosis. Other GReddy buyers honestly shouldn't be panic struck about the tune. It's just a wastegate problem that happens with shipping occasionally. Granted this isn't a good thing, it's still a product of poor shipping and packaging.

Please guys, do not mis-inform many people out there that this entire mishap was because of a poor tune from Greddy out of the box that blows your motor as soon as you get on the gas.

Partial throttle isn't controlled by the emanage anyway. Drive it to the shop without flooring it and you'll never blow your motor, as long as the boost stays below a respecatble level.

Good luck man, I hope you get it worked out.
Yea, Im willing to bet the wastegate was damaged in shipping. I had 2 kits get damaged just from shipping alone. And always its not a good idea to let the turbo rest on the WG when storing it. I checked my wastegate and it opens freely, hopefully I wont have to eat a motor.

The Greddy tunes work! Just not tuned for performance, they are rich as $hit. Idk why everyone has that misconception. Every car is different, and you need to get dyno tuned to squeeze out the most HP.

Well if the Wastgate Acuator was more than likely damaged in transit... Can the Shipping company be held liable or the company that he bought it from or Greddy themselves? I mean I know everybody will deny deny deny or play the blame game.. but thats a lot of money being shelled out, just to shell even more out to get a new engine.. all that becuase of a faulty wastegate.

Yea, UPS ate my broken Greddy kits... Inspect the parts before they go on the car. I put some pressure on my WG and the flapper opened smoothly. No bends or anything stuck, gonna apply some pressure tonight to make sure.

from my earlier post:
You really should PM cdp1279 . He had the same exact thing happen with his Greddy. Turned out to be a damaged wastegate that was bent shut.

see how he handled the issue with Greddy/UPS

I bought the kit from an authorized Greddy Dealer and installer. I even brought the car in before I even started the car, because of the cold start problem with the E manage and they check everything I did and gave me the thumbs up. The car is back at the shop and their having everything checked and tested. I won’t know the results till later today so ill keep you guys posted.

Gentleman, this is exactly why you should purchase quality products from a company that will back that product with a... oh I don't know... 12month, 12k mile no fault no hassle warranty...

but on the flip side, at least poeple don't have to make the same mistake as others.
Learn from this...

I hope everything works out and build that 2AZ bullet proof bro...Good luck!

That warranty is for the turbo not the motor...

^ Exactly... A turbonetics kit can blow up a 2AZ just as easy.

The WG has to be the broken part, it was simply stuck shut it seems. Most likely damaged via shipping. UPS covered mine.

I don't think anyone was blaming the tune. I think there is enough history with this happening on the GReddy kit that we have came to a conclusion that the Wastegates need to be inspected before install. Or Double checked after install.

^ Indeed, inspecting parts should not be over looked.

UPS will pay to repair the WG only. This was the only thing damaged in shipping and they will argue that it's up the recipient to inspect contents of any packages receive. I hope you can get something else out of it, but I think that's what they'll give you.

Thanks for the clarification Joe.... That sucks and makes me mad.. and it's not even my car... Guess we all will learn to inspect everything after shipment.. even more then we did before..
