Any problems running the NST 9.5 s/c pulley?

I'm pretty sure it wasn't belt slippage. I have the NST 9.5lb pulley with the Gates belt bought from NST's website. I am not using the Gatorback belt. The sound is also not coming from the pulley and the belt. The sound is coming from the fan blades area (the blower). I think the pulley is spinning the blades much too fast and thus it is causing some sort of problem there. I'm planning to put the NST pulley back on to see if I do get that sound again.

But for anyone who is considering swapping the NST on there, it does give you more power that you can feel.
would you say its worth it?

Think about it. It's a 20+ whp gain for under $100. If you want more power, go for it!

I've had it on for about a month...can't remember clearly, but i recently took it out and hadn't had the chance to put it back on.

I took it out because of the sound from the Supercharger. Now that the pulley is out, the supercharger is not making the sound anymore. And no piggyback system.

I saw on the description of the NST Pully that your not supposed to use it if you have a supercharger that has the factory ECU reflash. What's up with that? it doesnt make sense to me.

Does everyone who has this pully installed on their TC have the factory Reflash?

No, its perfectly fine to run with the factory flash...its a bad idea to run the pulley without the reflash

the TRD reflash is able to take the extra 2.5psi? with no problems?

The factory reflash runs very rich, especially at the higher RPM. The 9 psi pulley runs great with the TRD reflash.

*NOTE: NST02065 SC Pulley NOT intended for use without TRD ECU Reflash.

This means that you should be running the factory ECU reflash. Toyota will reflash your ECU for you when they install the TRD SC. Some people used to install the SC without the reflash and that was quickly regarded as a bad idea by the experts.

I know a lot of people with the NST 9.5 pulley who have had no problems.

ZPI 9PSI Pulley, DC Sport Header, Meagan S-Pipe (crap), TRD Exhaust, ZPI Crank Pulley, Nology Wires, NST Water pump pulley, NST Alt. overdrive Pulley. copper plugs (step colder), PLX Wideband controller, Greddy Ultimate with MAP (no settings), TRD ECM reflash, homemade Short ram intake, Royal Purple 5W-30 synthetic, Lucas Oils Synthetic Stabilizer, Royal Purple 75W-90 synthetic gear oil, custom oil cooler, Redline Water Wetter.

Car ran great before I installed the Greddy Ultimate before it began to run lean, but still made power. Kenny Tran (Jotech Racing) dyno-tune cleaned it up to a safe A/F ratio 228.4WHP and 190.8Lbs TQ. I just got this tune last week. My tC has 39.8K miles of which I have had the TRD since 11K miles and boosted to 9PSI since 15K miles. Absolutely NO problems whatsoever, except for a lack of traction.

I just read this post - i have been on the forum for years now - nobody has a problem with the NST 9.5pulley. I "think" i put the gates on mine if I remember correctly. I found in some notes: 890k7 size which I think came off of a 1996 jeep grand cherokee (the larger engine one). Dont take the belt for fact but if you read other people are using that one ...thats the one. As for the pulley, it has been proven that 9.5 is safe to use with the TRD map. Simple as that. Search back for posts years ago and you will see the same outcome. You guys arent the first s/c people. hehe. A lot of people did their homework on this product.

I had a real hard time finding the belt needed. The central NJ area just didnt have them. North jersey people didnt have a problem - so go figure. I ordered mine online and got it $2 less with rush shipping. East coast prices are around $40-50. There are places out west that were selling it for $28-35. Go figure.

I am one of those that have had the S/C for a while. I bought it hte 1st week it came out to the general public. There were some lucky ones that got them upfront for testing in the 2004 days.

i got hooked up too =D i bought my brand new trd s/c for 1495 shipped
and its 50 state legal cuz it comes with a sticker and you put it under the hood where the radiator is =D

^ he was prob around 208 with the pulley - then 20hp w/ the other mods. Sounds about right.
