Default Auto s/c get less psi?? owners chime in...

Did the s/c install on my homie's car with 9.5psi pulley. Noticed during road tuning that the psi always tops out at 6-7psi. It can barely touch 8psi, this is only when you are approaching redline say btw 5800-6000rpm. He has the TRD boost gauge and everything else has been dandy. No leaks and he changed out the bosch diverter valve, using APR R1 diaphram DV. No belt slippage either, all bearings changed out before install.

Is this normal for an auto s/c due to the tranny ecu controlling and preventing constant redlining?

no it's not true. since i've never heard of the bpv he's using, that'd be the first thing i change. i'd recommend the forge 007. second thing is gauges arent perfect so the readings may be off. you should be getting at least 8 psi with that pulley, that is if the bpv is holding and there is no slip. when i ran that pulley i got to 8.4 but i had some minor slippage.

You should be seeing 9.5psi OR HIGHER. auto or 5 speed, the crank is still spinning at the same speed at redline. So the RPMS of the supercharger will be the same making the same PSI.

So like said, check the BPV. Check the gauge.
Also, realize that 9.5 is ONLY at redline. You will not see 9.5PSI at 5800-6000 rpms. That isnt redline, so your boost will be lower.

I agree with Nick and John...check the BPV. also i believe the TRD Boost guage is mechanical, right? so there is no way to check exactly what PSI your hitting, plus, like john, gauges arent perfect.

i have an Autometer Electic Boost gauge with a recall feature on it. i know for a fact that my gauge reads out 7-7.5 PSI (on the stock pulley) on a warm day, and on a cold day, 8-8.5 PSI because of the recall feature.

but, check the BPV out and let us know how you make out.
