Looks like nitrogen powered air lift system to me. Plug in the wand and it injects air to make the piston shoot down and lift the car up.
I could be wrong, but that's what it looks like to me. Makes jacking up the car a one second affair...so helpful in racing.

Hooray! I guessed correctly!
Regarding the steps to make this thing AWD...most people will be interested right up until they see the associated costs of the required parts. I admit I'm interested in seeing the steps, but can only imagine the cost of the one-off machined pieces alone...

World Racing might need one-off machined pieces, but doubt a normal person converting a tC to AWD would. What they would need, is a source to acquire the original chassis components for the Rear from our AWD brother, the Avensis.

Are you utilizing any of the chassis components from the Avensis, or are you creating your own or parts from other sources? By the way, I still need to call you about the carbon widebody. Still working on other stuff right now, but I'll pick your brain eventually about it.
