If you do it make sure you do both sides of the hole and down in it to be safe. It takes 24hrs to fully cure.

Like Pito said in my motor build thread, there's several way to plug the hole.

my motor will be out for a few more weeks, so we tapped the hole to match a bolt out of an old monte carlo (LMAO) and JB welded the threads as we put the bolt in. NO oil will get throught that b. hahaaaa

This might be a n00b question. But it looks as if the balance shafts can be removed without taking out the engine. Just pop off the oil pan, remove the balance shaft covers (8 bolts), and then remove the shafts?

Is there an oil pump in the way?
Are the balance shaft bearings easy to remove?
Can I JB weld both sides of that hole (with the engine in)?

Yes, you can remove the balance shafts without taking out the engine just as you said. The oil pump is in the way but you can remove only the oil pickup tube to make room to remove the shafts .

Basically, the oil pump is in the way but you only need to remove the oil pickup tube!
Yes, the balance shafts bearings are very easy to remove.
NO, you cannot JB Weld both sides of the hole with the engine in. In order to do that you will need to remove the upper oil pan and it is "nearly impossible" to do that with the engine in.
