Default best size turbo

Im gonna be getting the "simple" kit from tt and i get to pick my ar and trim. I wanted to get some opinions on the best size turbo. My goals are to get good hp and tq gains but to be able to run with stock internals and clutch. something like 250 hp and tq to start with.

The higher the A/R, the more lag. So, running a 1.50 A/R would be useless. The lower the A/R, the more torque you will get. So, I have a .63 A/R at 9 lbs and I am at 259WHP and 287WTQ.

keep in mind his altitude and where he lives where in california, some people with a similar setup, .63 AR / 54 Trim making 300+whp

yes, those mountains hurt you, but you are making great power for where you are. I can't wait to see the second stage of your build.

Yea, the high mountains makes our lungs strong, haha. Yea, not sure when that will happen. My next performance steps are to get a 3" exhaust and get a GT3076R and tune it for 12 lbs (too much for that turbo?) hoping to get at least 325WHP and 325WTQ (you think I will get it cuz of this altitude?). THEN I will go on to Stage II.

I really don't think so, although maybe with the 3" it will be possible. Truly depends.

what will that be, stage 1.5? 12psi won't be anything for that turbo (it is rated up to 500hp), but possibly too much on your stock block....

I was thinking it might be to much for the stock block as well, but that turbo is quite nice. As you saw my teaser thread, my turbo is a beast.

Well, I suppose I could start at like 8 and go up to 10 if I want to. Thanks for the tips! God, I love this forum, haha.

Well I plan to do 2 tunes, one at 6 and one at 8 psi for now while I am on the stock block... hopefully by the time I build I will be doing the Crower stroker kit (if it ever comes out) or I will grab the k1 tech. rods, dezods 8.8:1 pistons, etc. etc....

to make that ish short, what would be best overall turbo with goals of 450+whp in the future, 300-330ish on stock block... I think that the 60 trim might be okay, just a tid bit more lag... but then again the 57trim can still do 500hp.... hmmmm

input? thanks for the quick reply

Well if you are going to do some internal work, why not build the head so you can rev out that motor and put full use to that turbo. get that baby up to 7500rpms and see how that snail feels.

what would the differences be between a 50 trim with .48 ar and a 50 trim with .63 ar? Its going to be a garrett t3/t4 turbo btw.

I just basically told you. The higher the A/R, the more lag. So, a 50 trim with .48 A/R will spool much quicker than a 50 trim with a .63 A/R. ALSO, a .48 A/R has more low end power whereas a .63 A/R has more top end power.

I would go with more low end power. Its more fun ^^
My gt3575 takes a while to hit full boost, like 3200rpm.

I rode in my friends car that has a greddy kit, and a smaller turbo, and it seems to be a lot more fun to drive. I do love the way mine spools though.

My car is only fun on the freeway, lol. I'm on the freeway 99% on the time, so it suits me. My future goal is 500whp though. So this turbo will help me reach that.

Good luck choosing your turbo =)
