Of course but if you are having spark blow out at 14 psi on a tc, you have major ignition issues. Of course there is no magic gap, used that as reference as no ignition system is the same either. Going down under .030 with iridium is just pointless because the "point" of running iridium is being able to run a wider gap without spark blowout issues. I see many old school tuners that know there shiz doing exactly what your guy did with your iridium plugs. Not that it is wrong, it is what they know from experience with older style junk plugs. Just have to have a different way of thinking with new equipment that is all.
And yes I know what I am doing with plugs, I had an odd nitch business for around 3 1/2 years of selling nothing but different kinds of spark plugs to race teams & tuners worldwide. From gold paladium, to iridium, to R series race plugs and even junk 1.1mm nickle tip plugs., I sold them all and know them all well. Was a lot of fun For your tc under 20 psi on stock ignition, I would never recommend anything tighter than a .032gap.

anyway, what is spark plug blowout and how do i know i have it? cuz im still not getting optimum WOT performance. it feels like the car is pulling timing and will run rich. when the motor is cooled down, the map keeps the afr at around 11 so i know the tune is not the problem.
my idle was crap when i threw in my plugs but it was because the gap was .030 or under. i regapped them to about .040 and the idle problems are fixed but the WOT problems are still there. im running one step colder plugs btw. should i go wider to stock gap?

when our daughter took the wife's tc to her friend's shop recently and had it dyno'd, he told her that we needed new plugs. Now after some good advice ( thx to garage1217 ) I have ordered them; but since i didn't notice any real issues with how it performed before can I assume that with new plugs the dyno numbers wouldn't really change any? Do "correct" plugs make any difference "numbers" wise or is it more in feel and overall response?

There is a lot of false info on plugs on the market. See plugs themselves do not net any hp. However good plugs can react similar to an upgraded ignition system especially ignition systems that are weak in older cars. On the tc, we have a pretty darn good cop ignition system.
- If you were going from stock iridium plugs to new iridium plugs and the car had lower milage, chances are you would not see a difference at all on the dyno
- Seeing as your daughter has the TRD sc setup and knowing how utterly crappy the plugs are TRD provided, yes there is a chance you will notice a difference at idle, and highter up in the powerband as well. Nothing major but a few hp.
- Also iridium plugs generally last over double to almost triple the life of standard nickle tip plugs. Generally you should get 65K miles + out of a set.

Yes, 11 under WOT. but when I run it right after that, in the upper rpm range, it feels like im getting misfires or the ecu is pulling timing and I notice the afr dip to 10 (the lowest the aem reads so its probably under?)

Actually if it is pegging the wideband at 10 then it is most likley much richer than that and you are choking the car down with fuel which feels similar to timing being yanked hardcore.
