I definitely agree with pollup, i personally drive a 300+ whp daily driver and its quick, but off the line is a different story... but tell us what you need and what you have and we can point you in a few directions.

But from a 40 mph roll.. You'll eat most things up.. Traction is horrible on our cars.. Racing from a dig is so juvenille too.. Haha red light racing

the only thing different is a one off kit and thats pretty expensive. get a put together kit and put your own spin on it. i have a one of a kind kit, its still a zpi kit but its been modified.

ok.. so you have nothing basically...

Well let me put it this way, if you have a 4g spending limit, its going to cut it close. You can get a treadstone kit, i believe its 3k and some change.. but you have to figure paying someone for install unless your going to do it yourself, and exhaust, right there alone thats 4k+ ...

then your going to want a clutch + tires + engine management...

with all that, there is no guarentee your going to be walking on 350's, evo's, sti's or anything in that class...

what i would do, is I would search around a lot, because our opinion and thoughts shouldn't make your decision for you.

Taking a quick glance at the classifieds... I found a full tnetics kit for 3000.. Or if you want custom there's my turbo and manifold.. 318_tc's IC and piping.. Prettystandards BOV.. I think jrods emanage and harness.. All that stuff under 3000.. And you're set for a nice set up.. Just need a wastegate and injectors..
