Has anyone here blown their daily driven turbo tC here on SL? (Links please...)

How come there's no "BLOWN F.I. ENGINE" thread?

Because of the peeps on this board layin knowledge down on all of us, we know what TO do and what NOT to do. Keep reading and you'll learn as well grasshopper. The only engines that have blown from F.I have been because of faulty wastegates or bad Boost controllers. What'd you expect, its a Toyota

You can read about it here: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...806&highlight=

I second that! (bearing failure was the cause of mine from what it looks like and no where near oil starvation)

^^^ I 3rd that. Bearing failure in the s/c which clogged the oil filter, lost oil pressure and boom.

Oops, seemed to have missed that. Well, still blew an engine. So, my case wasn’t a true testament of the durability of the stock block.

true I've only really read about bloen motors from s/c but also the guys with blown s/c failed to read how vortech says to maintain the s/c and the has resulted in blown s/c

Ive blown two of my motors.
One was a run on the track in which it overboosted and the result was a smashed ring landing and another was cracked.
The second was while I was driving and it grenaded the motor. Rod snapped in half! The Rods in this motor are toothpicks and I do not recommend over 10psi daily on a stock block. Great if you get the tuning but if you do it its a ticking time bomb IMO UNLESS its blessed lol

hey if i havent gotten banned yet.. theres no way you are lolol if your not around dont worry.. i have enough free time at work to double my post counts pre day to reak havok lol.

i personally have only seen 2 motors blow.. both on the same tc.. both over boosting..

IMO anything above 300hp is asking for issues later on down the line.. especially you guys with 05 motors... and i heard a few motors on here grenading also.. probably from to much boost or not enough tuning.. or instal error..

Good idea

Add me to the list with a blown motor. 1500 miles with a ZPI stage 1. Bad tune, bad advise from Kenny and a garbage kit caused collapsed rings and cracked ring landings (all 4) on the pistons.

80% loss of compression and scored cylinders were my reward for trust in a new company.

But I'm sure you'll be fine...

Damn! You guys are scaring the hell out of me on my Stage1 project...

Does your tCs have the additional oil injectors and pumps, and are they 07s?

Also, Where in SoCal can I find the best tC tuners or is there any here in LV? (I don't want to blow my motor on an overly rich tune...)

How come most of the problems came from TRD, where are their SCs from anyway?
And whats with the oil consumption of the SC?

The Maximum Boost book???

I have it but, it's kinda old and it always has a bunch of warnings...

It always tells me to "strengthen" my internals before installing turbo... Also, the additional oil injectors and a bunch more scientific meters stuff to test your engines pressure etc. before install....

I like the book a lot but it kinda makes you wanna spend more on your engine internals and meters before you install your turbo to make it like it's been turboed from the factory and be reliable.

What I'm doing now is driving the tC and trying to get its clutch burnt so I could replace it with stage4 sooner.
