justin do you also have adjustable shocks? try playing around with the suspension and see if you can get a little more out of those tires when you get your engine back togather. speaking of which any updates on that?

If you need tires for drag racing just get a full slick, a drag radial will always leave you still wanting more traction

Look for some cheap 15" steel wheels (corolla, or pt cruizer) and throw some slicks on

For the power most of us make a 24.5x8x15 Slick will do fine.

I use M&H dragmaster slicks, but have also Mickey Thompson's with great success

They do not provide traction.

Are you talking for the street or the track?

Track get slicks

For the street, sure you can run Drag radials, but what everyone keeps failing to mention is that the Compound of the rubber is a lot softer than normal street tires. Thus the life span of them will be a lot shorter if you try and daily drive on them than it would be for a good street tire.

The lower the UTQG of a tire, the more Grip it provides but the shorter the life span it has also.

Thank you guys for this thread, I realized how much I need traction going down the track today! 2.2-2.3 60 ft's FTL. However I see there are two different opinions here. One says don't even waste your money on drag radials and get slicks instead while the other one is saying drag radials are adequate? Anybody care to elaborate?

I currently have the stockies collecting dust in the closet and would like to use them for the drag radials since it seems it would be cheaper than buying slicks and rims. Did anybody have to roll their fenders when they used the stockies with the drag radials?

This is the last time I am going to say it.
Drag radials will NOT provide the traction EVERYONE is looking for.

Buy some 15" rims. Call M&H Racemasters and get a set of slicks (nice guy will help you out). Buy tires. Get them mounted.

Enjoy traction

Drag radials will NOT provide you with the traction you are looking for.
Drag radials will NOT provide you with the traction you are looking for.
Drag radials will NOT provide you with the traction you are looking for.
Drag radials will NOT provide you with the traction you are looking for.

Of course throwing a set of drag radials on extra stock rims is cheaper but once again Drag radials will NOT provide you with the traction you are looking for. Do not even waste your time. I am speaking from personal first hand experience.

Slicks cost the same as DR's, so it's a bit of a no brainer. But they don't make slicks sized to fit our stock wheels. They do have DR's that fit on stockers though.

dr's are fine if you have atleast lsd and using it for street use. now for only track i would use slicks. but dr's are not a waste of moneyfor street use atleast.
