Breaking in a Built Motor?
Ok so as the time arrives soon (2-3 weeks) when i get my baby back with the internals and some head work done im just curious on the best way possible to break the car in so everything sets right and the piston rings set perfect. Ill be breaking in the car with All motor and then putting the turbo back on after its broken in.
I heard the first like 20 miles is very important and that u should actually GET on it to redline like atleast twice so the rings set better? and then from there on out just chill? is this correct?
how many miles would be recommended to drive on for a nice break in?

i was just reading a couple sites and also a guy i know told me to get on it in the first 20 miles.

Break for racing should be done as fast as possible bcuz as the motor breaks in it increases friction and looses compression, so many race cars are broken in on the dyno. For longevity, break the motor in with atleast 500 miles of city driving before gettin on it. You should do your first oil change with in the first 200 miles using a break in oil or organic oil as they are thicker... Use a magnetic oil drain plug to collect and metal shavings... If dont see any shavings cut the oil filter open and check in there and make sure, if none are seen then youre ready to beat on it. If you see some metal. you'll have to tear down and see where its comin from.

yeah^^ same thing. allow the engine to come up pretty high in the rpms then let off the gas and let the car slow down by using the engine. it would be really great if you had a real big hill by your house. start going down it and just use the engine to slow you down, espcially in a lower gear like 3rd or so.
when you engine brake it builds up the compression in the cylinders forcing the rings out against the cylinder walls thus helping to seat them
