Two questions. When I'm in California (June 06- April 07), do I need to worry about my headers since I have Colorado plates and registration? Second, under what pretense are they getting you to pop your hood? A search is illegal without probable cause, and I cannot think of anything (save maybe an exceptionally loud exhaust, and even that would be a stretch, since most are CARB legal) that would satisfy this.

no probable cause needed in cali..if your car looks modded from the outside that probable cause, and if you have an exhaust thats like a big red flag. cali sucks, but some cops are chil. you should be fine with the headers as long as they are LEGAL in your state...

Technically, they aren't, but I do have a nice emissions exempt sticker since I bought the car new. Also, whats the likelihood that Cops in CA know that Colorado requires front plates? I never put mine on because I think the car looks far better without, and once I leave California, my next assignment is going to be in Oklahoma, and they don't even issue front plates, so I definitely dont want to drill holes in my bumper.
