I'm so close to giving up on this car. Gonna tear apart the rear end tomorrow to see if I can find this ____ing knocking noise.

 

not your exhaust? endlinks, suspension?

 

Not the exhaust, not the sway, not the endlinks, not the brakes.

The car doesn't vibrate, doesn't pull, handles the same...Any slight bump, and it knocks. It's a metal on metal sound, and I can't find it. Gonna take off the bumper and tails and test it out. Then I'm going to drop the suspension and see if anything is going on with that...

 

have you pulled the spare outa your trunk and looked around there? maybe something fell in between your spare and is rattling around there. just an idea

 

Is it more of a clunk or a clink? I had kind of a clunking noise coming from the back of mine. I had done my own springs+shocks install several months earlier and must have gotten something not quite right. I fooled with everything I could short of taking it totally out and couldn't fix it. So I had the dealer redo the rear suspension for me and that got it.

 

check the rear struts they have a rattling problem after springs check the main top nut and yeah

It rained today so I couldn't check anything out, supposed to be nice tomorrow, so I'll check the springs.

Alright, got the car jacked up, dropped the rear D/S suspension, and I've got the shock absorber/spring assy in my hand. Waiting for my friend to come pick me up so we can go back to his house with it and see if it's the bump stop (he has a spring compressor). When I was working on it, I had to lower the car and compress the suspension, and it make a nice loud snap, which was the same noise that I've been hearing. It did it with the sway completely loose, no endlinks, no support or anything, basically narrowing it down to the spring/shock.

How much are TRD shocks...?
