Default cleaning a turbo

Hi i bought a used turbo and i am just wondering of how to go about cleaning it? I figured something may have got into the housings during shipping so i wanna make sure its clean. i wanna make sure i don't mess up anything. is it alright to take it apart or would o have to replace gaskets when putting it back together? would degreaser be a good substance to clean it with?
any help is appreciated

you can seperate the CHRA from the compressor and exhaust housing by removing the bolts on the back of each housing between the housing and CHRA

separate the housings and only apply degreaser to a cloth/towel and clean it. dont spray the degreaser around the seals, could possibly get into the chra? Maybe, just sounds like it could be a bad thing.

sounds like weezy's old turbo....just a tip for ya, most likely that turbo doesnt have a seal around the compressor housing where the housing mates up with the backplate so its not a bad idea to put a very very thin coat of high temp rtv where they mate up. now the compressor cover if it is the one im thinking will be kinda stiff to get off (no homo). take the bolts out of the compressor housing and gently tap on the cover with a rubber malet moving all away around with every tap. the turbine housing can be a little sticky getting it off aswel (and again no homo...lol). just take the bolts out of it and tap around it with a malet.

warning if the compressor housing does have a thin red seal around it try not to touch it unless its already falling off then try your best to get it back in the grove on the backplate. good luck
