Cooling
so its gonna be hot this summer and our cooling fans only turn on when the key is on the on position...i noticed that during hot days and i sit in my car and leave the key in the on position the fans come on after a minute or two after shuting off the engine...the fans stay on for like 5 mins, so this mod might help people with turbo since it will help cool down the motor too, does anyone know anything about the wiring about this? basically how can we wire the relay so the fans will come on without the key being there?
my prelude used to do this where the fans will come on with out the key in the car, im wondering why toyota didnt do this

Toyota didn't do it because they wanted to avoid the headaches of people having dead batteries because of the fan being on. They also didn't do it because its not necessary, why do something if they don't have to lol...
I would suggest using a pulse timer on a switch to manually turn on the fan whenever you want to.

Get a turbo timer, that way after you are done driving your car the engine will keep running circulating the coolant until it cools enough. You will just have to set the timer for a few minutes.

A turbo timer is your best bet.
I had a 76 stingray with cooling issues so I removed the clutch fan (not an issue on the tC) and swapped in a set of thin Flex-a-lite fans with a switch in the cabin so I could flip them on at will and a "turbo" timer (also for NA apps) so the car would run for a bit less than a min after shutting down.

tkevin07 you dont need to be messing with any of that stuff. I seriously doubt that your car is built enough to need additional cooling going to it. There's only a hand full of people on this site that need additional cooling (a large majority of them are FI people). Just leave the cooling system alone. Toyota engineered it for a reason like it is.

Not true.

btw... that's what turbo timers are for.

well turbo timers are more primarily for the cooling of the oil.. they stay on to let the oil cool so you dont get clogs in your lines. therefore blowing your car up.. in the long run though it does help for the overall cooling of your turbo charged motor.. although it is known that for such low boost and power like say... making 250-300whp.. a TT still isnt needed.. its more for peace of mind.

bigger aftermarket radiator will best suit your needs and is more directly focused on cooling.. there several cooling methods for turbocharged/FI vehicles you have oil coolers, turbo timers, water cooled turbos, intercoolers, water sprayers, meth/water injectors all these are cooling components but have different uses and cools different parts
