Default Custom Homemade turbo kit

Hey SL Community...I have a 2005 Scion tC and I was reading up on all the threads on F/I...I was going through all of the kits that are out today from the Greddy, ZPI, Turbonetics, etc...I was thinking is there anyone out there who has pieced together their own Turbo Kit and if so what parts had to be made custom and how much did the kit cost to put together....?[/b]

MegaSquirt has a good ECU but it comes without a base setting, you can download settings for it but its also really cheap, you can check those out on ebay. zeropointracing.com has a good manifold that is one of the cheaper ones around but its a good manifold. You might want to get a 16g or T3 size turbo, this way you can avoid a lot of turbo lag. As for intercooler and piping, there are univeral kits around where you can have someone custom fit it to your car. Most of the other things are small pieces here and there. I in the process of building a kit for my car. I have yet to buy anything but I have a budget worked out and Im looking at spending around $3000 at the most. Im personally thinking more around $2500. So time has to tell. Goodluck

I'm in the process of that now. I'm not made of money so alot time is being used to gather the parts. there is someone on here that did his own kit with an auto tranny. not sure how it worked out.

I got the turbo from a friend for free and an intercooler, waste gate w/ boost controller, and BOV for dirt cheap. I plan on making my own manifold, downpipe, and intercooler piping. I estimated after looking for used parts and suplies and should cost me under 2500. thats without my high labor cost cause I'm doing it myself.

hey all, im the owner of that particular tc.

as for info about the manifold it was constructed by close friend of mine Craig S. (note the CS) he is the excellent fabricator responsible for the manifold, charge piping and full 2.5in ss mandrel exhaust. Thank you for the compliments on it, I get them all the time and he is very proud of his work, as well he should be. the runners are all equal length and sched 40 SS tubing. Tig welded and backpurged. quality piece that he should start producing but as for any replicates...there are none. he has done previous work but my car was a one-off project he and I did and now he works for Snap-On in sales.

the kit was about 4700 all said and done.... however that includes

Manifold/Full SS exhaust/Charge piping
EVO3 16G turbo
Precision FMIC
Apexi Twin Chamber BOV
Tial 38mm WG-external dump tube
High Flow Cat
Oil lines
ZPI MAF tube (which wasnt really "tuned" for 6psi and is no longer on the car)
Vacuum Block
2 5/8' Autometer Boost and EGT w/ carbon fiber pod
Greddy turbo timer
Greddy emanage
AEM UEGO wideband w/ gauge
Air Filter and misc clamps/couplers etc

i havent strapped it on a dyno yet but @6psi before it was tuned, running lean as hell with the ZPI maf pipe i ran 14.0@100mph

now its tuned and ive added the ingalls im certain i can hit high 13s with 6psi, but now my clutch is just starting to slip so I'm buying a clutch and 527cc injectors for 8psi daily/10 psi track.

any other questions i would be happy to ask....thanks again for any compliments
