how many of you guys would be interested in sending me your shaft housing and shaft, not the blower part, and having me take out the old shaft and install the new shaft? I would be able to do the install, and use the special bearing glue, and ship it back to you for $100. Let me know what you guys think.

 

i wish i coud but for one, i dont have any cash to give out. just got a new job and house so money is very tight, second my car is my dd and i cant miss a day due do to it being a new job and im on probation, can u send me some glue though or tell me wear to get some. i will still take lots of pics.

 

gompka - just reading up on the site; ACCOUNTING MAJOR!? Good luck with that. I've been doing Accounting work for the past 3 yrs & I hate my life, lol. But it's a good job that's immune to the economy.

 

lol, well that depends on what kind of accounting your doing? I'm almost positive I will change my mind in a couple years, but I need a degree and this fits the bill for now ;) You actually read the about me page huh? lol

loctite 7649 is the primer you put on first, let dry for 20 min or so then you use loctite 680 and let that sit for 24hrs. I'll have all the good info in my tutorial. I'll make a write up next week after midterms so should be ready before the shafts are finished. Then when you have the written tutorial you can take the appropriate pics.

 

Update, found some more ____ that is wrong with the oem shaft. The " woodruff key" that goes into the groove of the shaft and into the groove of the s/c pulley is total ____, its not hardened and its too small. There are two of these on the shaft one on the pulley side and one on the blower side. Thank God i caught this as the stupid key was already starting to screw up my shaft. I am getting these made for you guys free of charge so you'll be getting two new keys with your orders also, one for each side of the shaft. Little bit delayed because of some issues we found including that one, but now you can rest assured the shaft will be stronger than ever, this is F1 quality we are talking about here! I have attached a picture of what the completed s/c ends look like. This week the ends will be attached to the center pipe section. So now we are stuck on waiting for the balancing/welding facility to be freed up so they can finish up the shafts.

 

I was talking to the shop again today and I found out there is a special metal epoxy that is cheaper and should be better than using the loc-tite. Anyone who has damanged shaft/bearings probably sustained a little damage to their housing so the epoxy/loc-tite is a must! I'll have more info on this by the time i finish the install instructions. If anyone has a housing that is really messed up I can get them fixed, but I would need a minimum of 5 housings to do this. Most likely I am guessing the epoxy will be enough for everyone.

 

Ehrmmmm so when will you ship out the shafts gompka? Also, who's doing the instructions for installing it and when?

 

I'm doing the instructions, hopefully i'll be getting all the pics necessary, cause I'm putting one of these in my car while I'm at it, its a lot better than the first version. The shafts should have been shipped to the balancing/welding/bearing pressing place this weekend, I haven't confirmed with the shop yet. I'm really hoping by next sat everything will be ready to be shipped. They put an order in for the woodruff key material also so those should be ready next week, all they need to do with them is cut them to size. I'll keep everyone updated as i find these things out. Thanks again everyone for waiting so long, especially those who have a totally dead s/c. it will be worth the wait though!

 

I've been reading your progress since you started this endeavor Gompka and I just wanted to say you are doing a great job. You took a problem the entire supercharged community has in common and went out of your way to create a superior solution all the while finding the resources and shops to make it happen AND providing updates every step of the way, leaving no one in the dark. I'm going the turbo route, but I just wanted to stop in and say you're doing an awesome job with this. It's people like you that help make the car community thrive! Nice job man.

 

Thanks for the kind words, they are really appreciated. I am doing all I can and trying to get this to everyone as soon as possible. Its been taking a long time, I know, but I'm trying. It actually ended up being a benefit to everyone, because of all the changes and new information I found because of the delays.

Ok guys good news, shafts are on schedule to be completed this Friday! Once i get the shafts i will be inspecting each one, and I will also be putting one in my car so that I can do a tutorial and make sure everything is 110% If everything is ok I will start shipping them out Wed! I'll have some pics soon also.

 

Was at the shop today to drop off the bearings, and I got a look at the shafts. Wow, I was really impressed these shafts look really really good. Hopefully I will be shipping them out mid to late next week, all thats left is for the bearings to be put on. I will also be working on a tutorial so that its ready by the time these ship. Here are some pictures, much better than the last shaft and 10000 times better than stock. The reason the ends look much duller than the shiny center is because they are hardened so much!

-this is a little off topic, but i recently just purchased a S/C kit for an 07, wondering if u know the life of 07+ S/C before much repair will be needed?

Unless you want piece of mind, just don't do anything until you start hearing funny noises. Once you get used to the s/c you'll know when its not sounding like itself.
