I dont know what to tell ya man - the drivers side has a ring pin on it in the tranny - every time i took my motor out i pulled the motor witht he driver side still in tact lol its kinda fun - gotta have tall cielings in your garage and a long boom on your hoist lol - than i tapped it out from the other side with a long metal bar and a hammer lol

There is a ring on that side too. Its just harder to get out cuz there is no room over there. It takes me about 15 min to get it finagled out a there. Dont yank on the spindle end, it can damage the cv. Pry bars, long punches, and plastic hammers. It will come out.

OK. I just went and looked at mine seeing as they are both laying on the floor in the garage. The pass side is the long one, no wire clip on the diff end because the carrier bolts to the block. The driver side is the short one, it DOES have a wire clip on the diff end that clips into the side gear in the diff. thats why its so tough to get out.

I used a combination of pressure from a pry bar and tapping on it with a bronze drift or plastic hammer. Do you have the spindle un bolted from the strut so you can get the axle out of the trans?

If you want to pull the axle by the half shaft, there are 3 bolts located on the carrier bearing between the carrier bearing and the tranny. Remove these bolts and smack out with a preferably dead blow mallet. If you want to pull the whole ___'y out. You will have to remove the 3 bolts that hold the carrier bearing to the block. then you will have to pry back the bearing slightly to get it to clear the alignment dowels and then smack the carrier bearing or use a pry bar to remove. Whole process should take maybe 10minutes the first time around. After you get the routine should be less then 5 min.

And then I read that it was the drivers side and would suggest an angled pry bar and or hammer and get to wacking. Should be quick and easy. I usually see them pop out on the second wack.

Did you damage your driver side axle? Just wondering why only the driver side. I have used everything from tapping on a flat head screw driver to get it out, to pry bar, to (if you were taking the passenger side out too), taking out the passenger side, and then sticking a flat head screw driver through the diff hole and tapping the shaft of the driver side. Pops right out either way. Might take some finesse, but it is held in by a snap ring.
