Wow. I know a couple of boosted Tercel owners that had to buy their way around the emission testing and all of them (5) had to pay at least $150 for a sticker. I haven't talked to any of them in a few years though. And even then, they (one in particular) was _____ing about how hard it was to get one through alternate methods.

thats not always the case...I've been driving my boosted 08' xB around Torrance for 6+ months now worry free & prior to this I drove a boosted Civic around for 2 years no problems.
Anyways...
IMO...police look for trouble makers & if your out making a fool of yourself with your car you probably deserve it!

I wanted to know the physics and technical side behind turbochargers, so of course I looked it up on wiki, which led me to another site where I found this:
"Turbo Cool Down
A turbocharger is cooled by engine oil, and in many cases, engine coolant as well. Turbo's get very hot when making boost, when you shut the engine down the oil and coolant stop flowing. If you shut the engine down when the turbo is hot, the oil can burn and build up in the unit (known as "coking") and eventually cause it to leak oil (this is the most common turbocharger problem). It is a good idea to let the engine idle for at least 2 minutes after any time you ran under boost. This will cool the turbo down and help prevent coking."
Is it still common knowledge to let your engine idle for a few mins after boosting(as opposed to, say, you just hauled ___ down your street, parked, and shut off your engine), or have turbos changed/evolved much to the point that this isn't a problem anymore?
Just curious...

Just wanted to post up this customers DYNO sheet from last week. The car is 100% stock beside a TRD Axle back muffler & the DESCENDANT Turbo kit.
At 8psi she posted up some great looking numbers.
