Specific issues with our ECU's and the general 2AZ platform were overlooked in some areas. Overall good write-up but there is a lot of information missing here. I have a feeling ElevationTC has got that on tap already lol.

This was not intended to be about quirks or anything of that nature. That would be about 20 pages in information if I happen to write it. There is a LOT of information that I have discovered through first hand research over time. This was 7 pages alone, and I was attempting to keep it short and sweet with just touching the surface of each engine management.

Long story short, take this wealth of info and START from there on deciding your engine management options. Like Paul said, this is just the tip of the iceberg. First and foremost, you NEED someone local to be able to tune your car on whatever platform you end up with (whether that be yourself or a shop). Then your budget is always a factor to consider. Your long term goals should be next so you don't waste money on something that will be obsolete after another mod or two (or upping boost). Lastly, start looking at the remaining choices to decide based on features that will best suit your needs.
Just my .02 cents.
No offense Paul on missing information, I would just like to see this thread evolve into the EVERYTHING about all systems thread, quirks included so that people can make informed decisions with unbiased statements. It would be really nice to be able to put "search" on most of these silly little F/I questions lolz, you get my drift?
Maybe just update one platform at a time with extensive writing. Once it's done, disable comments and leave it for the Mods to play with as needed!
I hope this thread thrives and stays clean.

APR all the way!
Hi folks,
I am new to this forum but old to the tuning market. I started a toyota supra guy then a honda guy. Now I am tuning my little scion. I have owned all sorts of management units the FMU, fishtank valve map jobs, uberdata, AEM EMS and most recently the AEM fic then APR.
I will tell you that out of all the units I have worked with the APR unit has been the best for easy! The AEM EMS was good once I dedicated months to tuning, I say months because a dyno never covers all driving aspects. So I would daily drive tune a lot and tweak accordingly. I found I never used the AEM EMS to its full potential.
The APR unit was a risky buy for me in my book. I am unfamiliar with its software, support tuners, hybrid, and funding. Needless to say I was a bit scared to use a unit that isn't widespread like AEM or Haltech even.
Getting it in the mail and installing it in place of my AEM fic was easy. I had a ruff patch installing a tune on it only because I didn't have a tune to put in a folder. When I got the tune sorted out I instantly loved the unit. This APR unit is a self adapting machine instantly loving your car with fuel correction and advanced timing. After the initial install and datalogging I really wondered why I didn't bother buying this from the get go. First it wasn't out when I got my S1 from dezod and Second I was holding out for an AEM EMS. The APR will fullfill my needs even when I get a fairly built motor it is such an versitile unit. In my quest for the perfect unit I have finally found an easy tunable unit (I am not trying to say its plug and play joe) I am stating that datalogging and readability of the system is that of a dyno. It is very strait forward and easy to see where adjustments need to go. My advise is go APR at the very least, don't waste your time with piggybacks. If you figure the money you blow on Yo-yo's and going out to late night Denny's you can spare the change for a month to buy your car an APR.
I am not a professional at tuning nor do I claim to be. I just know a good product when I use one and Dezod has supplied most of them. Take my advice for what it is, a fellow tuner who loves his hobby.

ROFL at the pic...........
Hilarious!
Anyway, I wanted to simply cover the units that we get commonly asked about. I did not get into stuff like Uni-chip because of a few reasons:
1) we do not carry it
2) we do not tune it
3) it's tuner base is very limited
