Dezod Motorsports: Engine management writeup
#21
This unit, is specific for us, 2AZ-FE guys. Maybe Yaris too not sure yet.
The X1 might as well have been sold by TRD because it was designed by some old TRD engineers with many many months of testing and feedback from us here at Dezod. While everything else is universal and has to accommodate many different engines this is made and programmed for the Scion.
Might as well call it Toyodata.
#22
Toyodata is what I call it. If I say APR people ask me what APR stands for and makes awful side conversation. I use "Hybrid" a lot rather than standalone. Forget using Parallel processing in a conversation many reply "so its a standalone right". I played this game with Dezod on the phone before I purchased the unit. I guess people just have to use it to know how awesome it is.

Exactly, and that's what Paul keeps forgetting to mention.

Can you break down the Greddy Ultimate as much as possible for me (a complete noob to piggybacks) i just got one with my Zpi kit i got locally and would like to know all the add-ons i should get and anything u suggest
#28
Search on here or google all the add ons for the ultimate.
#29
i see most of the add ons i just don't know what would be necessary on a scion tC and what people would recommend i do have the pressure sensor the guy threw that in for me with the PnP harness
#31
Turbo timer has nothing to do with the ultimate. All you need is the pressure sensor. And if your tuning yourself the support tool, USB cable and the af target harness to tap that into your wideband and to your ultimate so you can datalog with the ultimate giving you afr readings str8 from your wideband.

Paul, i see alot of issues you were having with the emanage ult at one time.. How long ago was your last time with it.
Ive tuned about 5-6 of them now. And never had any of the issues that you spoke of. Not saying there wernt there. But maybe there has been a major firmware upgrade?
I tuned that car twice on the dyno.
One with pump 93 Dotted line
And e85 solid line... E85 run aborted when the (HORRIBLE) Nrg fpr seals blew apart causing e85 to spray everywere! (replaced with fuel lab <3)
Now i tuned a Aem fic just before that on the dyno and at 14 psi on 93 it only made 260whp. ( Smaller turbo, 2.5 EXH, Hotter IAT from not having blow through)
But from both system i always find the greddy much easyer to work with. Mostly due to fact AEMs map sensor is so senstive. Ur always tuning 3 rows vs the greddy were ur tuning 1 row Now i have fixed this issue with the aem by adding in a water filter and a reducer in line. Which GREATLY helps this issue from what ive seen!
If A/c worked flawlessly with the AEM EMS. I would talk everyone into getting one. TOTAL engine control. Not fighting any ecu. Great logger. Plus when you take the time to set it up. You have closed loop(o2 feedback) which has fuel trims to keep the car at correct afr's when needed. You have target idle, so the cars always making sure its idling at the proper spot. And was you take the time to setup the idle on and off. Tip in (Light blips) Are better then OEM!
This is not the full review im working on myself. but just a quick couple notes! I just signed up the the AEM tuner class. So ill be ready for when you guys release the new box :D

Mike, we need to get you one to play with on a car. Trust me, you will fall in love with it.

The V2 EMS will be 100% better. The new software and hardware inside the box should allow us to make this much more seamless, however I would still elect an APR X1 over it for 95% of the users on this board.

Im excited to see what aem tuner has to offer.. Hopefully they kept things logically as in aem pro. And didint take a step towards cryptic settings like hydra.
One thing i would LOVE to see would be a/c working. Ive been meaning time and time again to wire up everything except injector and coils back to oem ecu to see if it will take on DBW idle and a/c but, thats another day lol!
Is the APR unit similar to what im doing with ecuflash using the tactrix?
I guess im confused on hows it modding the internal rom, whens its external? Maybe you could shoot me and email with some more info? Sorry if its been posted some were i've been skimming scionlife latley!

You do not want to do that with the AEM. There are 3 wiring changes and 2 box mods that need to be made for the A/C to work properly. That is the only real way to get the A/C working well through the stock ECU.
The APR more or less (in a nut shell) makes the stock ECU maps programmable. Without going into how it does it, I can simply tell you it works......and works well.
