Dezod vs. Turbonetics
#21
^^correct. you can still do some searching and find a few turbonetic kits or turbo's themsevles, but they are sort of rare like the zpi kits. but if you dont have any luck that route, there's a few threads you can get some info on regarding dezod, ptuning, and decendant kits. all 3 are really good kits. there's always flaws; alot of times are due to installation and tuning. just depends on what exactly you are wanting to get out of the kit, how much power and how much you are wanting to spend. but all3 are good kits.

The one and final answer to all these threads: Dezod, turbonetics, ptuning, decendent........... regardless what kit you get, you will be satisfied. Myself, i have 7+ years of experience with Dezod products and customer service. From d17a/2 civic to 2az-fe tC. Both kits were all enclusive, ran top notch and NEVER had problems. From my civic, to my xB, to my tC, to my s2000 bought everything from Dezod. Never any trouble. P-tuning is also as legit as they get.

just for the record im not alone......
so to clear up some things.....PTuning is amazing!...love there product and there customer service..thanks everyone!
And I used to have the dezod S2 and all i can say is ____ dezod...this kit is amazing!!!
Everyone says so many great things about Dezod's customer service being so great, but I had nothing but problems with them...took me 4 months to get my car running with their kit, with SO many problems... Once the kit was finally put together properly, the car ran well, but as for customer service...FTL...once they got your money they dont give a ____ about you...

Correct, you are not alone but you are in the absolute minority.
Dezod and PTUNING are both around to serve the Scion community and, IMHO, it is MUCH better having both around than just 1 or the other.
PTUNING tuned my Dezod kit, I drove 12 hours for them to do it. Never did they once say anything negative about the system besides that the turbo was small, which it is, but it made power 250whp.
PTUNING installed my Mishimoto Radiator shroud, made some changes to my setup, moving the vac line for the FIC, and fixing some exhaust leaks.
Toan @ PTUNING tuned my car, then talked about the positives and negatives of my setup, with the most restrictive being my resonator and exhaust, also he took time to write a letter describing the problems with my original tune on PTUNING letterhead and sent it to me.
Dezod has always been there even though I bought my kit used, anything I needed they either sent to me or if it would cost more for them to send it to me they had me go to the auto parts store and ask for items.
I've sent Paul and Don pics of things I needed because I didn't know the name, F/I n00b, and they called me to go over things, even guided me through aspects of the setup.
When the turbo from my used kit finally took a poop and blew its seals, Don expeditiously gathered up all the hardware needed for a new turbo and manifold, gaskets, etc. and sent them to me overnight and Dezod ate the cost of shipping.
If all people have are negative comments about either company then that person needs to sit back and take a long look at self.
PTUNING + Dezod + TRD Sparks ---> All a Scion owner ever needs!

Just curious, on the v1 Turbonetics kit, has anyone just thrown out the unichip and went with an AEM F/IC and plug and play harness? If that's the weak link in the old kit, it seems like a pretty easy upgrade (though more $$).
I've got a 1gen xB, Greddy turbo, but have had nothing but good experiences from both Dezod and PTuning. I haven't built a motor before, but over a month talking with Paul from Dezod they put together a respectable engine package for me, and what they didn't carry they sent a recommendation of where to go (mainly pistons and bearings).
PTuning has tuned both my supercharger and turbo, always giving me a full run-down of pre and post tune. After the last time, they recommended if I go up on boost I add a pressure sensor, but didn't even try and sell me one on the spot, nor did the push the Greddy, in fact they said any brand would work as long as the signal output is compatible. They also took less time to tune the turbo than it did to get the vehicle inspected at my local Midas (the turbo went on AFTER inspection).
My only complaint is there's no XBox 360 yet in the waiting area, would be great to play some Forza 3 when I come back in the spring to have them tune the 365Motorwerks Garrett kit.
