difference in 2 psi

Mines t'd off with the rest of my vacuum lines - including fic, guage, and bov - ive never had a problem with spikes although apparently some have. I only did it because my turbo compressor hadnt previousely been tapped when i got it and i didnt feel like taking the time to tap it lol I might sell my fic soon - when i go to manual swap im really wanting a standalone - i wanna rev to like 7k - hey on that note - does anyone know if you can up the redline to 7k by simply going with upgraded valve springs and retainers (no cams or valves). I know dezod sells the bc spring and retainer kit for like $280.
Yes stronger springs and retainers will help - but you'll have to ditch the FIC.

I'm pretty sure that 3x2 bolt clamps will always be a T04B but I'm not 100% on that.

Most T04B's are 2.75" in and 2.0" out, most T04E's are 3.0" in and 2.0" out. The best way to be sure is to measure your comp housing dimensions and cross reference to the turbo drawings at Turbonetics.

Typically comp wheels are listed by trim and turbine wheels by stages.
cburglb34: It sounds like you do have a T04E.

Thats true but a t3/t04e turbonetics turbo has 3" or 2.75" comp housings. The t04b only has 2.75" according to there website. So I will do the other measurement you said but the info i just stated pretty much answers the question dont it?
#31
ok well i checked your link as well and the comp is definitely a t04e hosuing. Every comp housign matches and i compared my measurements to the t04b and they are bigger than the t04b as well.
#32
huh... that's interesting. Typically the E housing has a larger backplate than the B and uses 2 half-circle clamps. I know that the 3x2 bolt clamps from a T04B won't work on a E. I didn't know that there were larger 3x2 bolt clamps for the E housing but now I do. Thanks.

Yes and your backplate appears to be larger than my T04B and the same as my T04E. You could pull your covers off and measure your wheels to see exactly what you have (stage and trim) but it's probably a lot easier to cross reference the part # or serial # with Turbonetics. If you even care that much about it.

Well i kinda wanna know my wheel stage. Now i know the stage II wheel is good for like 400-425 whp according to turbonetics spec. So im guessing for a quicker spool up and more usable powerband i would want that right. Instead of a stage III wheel thats for i think 450-500hp?
Hey thanks for all the links and incite Fred! I just learned some things.

I know a little about turbo sizing but not enough to offer any advice on the subject. I suggest reading up on it at Garrett or Turbonetics websites or asking some of the more knowledgeable folks around here.
Check this out for a quick sizing guide:

I T04E 50 trim is capable of 450hp. Of course it all depends on the supporting mods you have and the tuning.
450hp will roughly be 47lb/min which this turbo is capable of pushing - however you're at the very end of the efficiency map by then.

really? Hmm... the guy i bought it from said it was a .50a/r comp and exhaust .63a/r. But maybe he said 50 cause it being a 50 trim. I will look more into it. I dont see anything on the comp housing other than 30491 E50. there is a 12 stamped on one of the comp wheel blades. Im very interested to finally figure out what i got. I mean i know its a real turbonetics turbo. I know it will give me plenty of power. I just want it to spool decently quick and give me some good power numbers.

Interesting Breal! Thanks for that post. Ima really only looking to go to 10psi max and hoepfully make around 300whp there. Ima start out around 5-6psi just to get used to driving a turbocharged car.
