Dont worry, more boost will be coming soon Looks like my ultimate will be here by the weekend. If I can solder and install with one hand, than I should be tuning on it over the weekend to get a running street tune, than hopefully find someone to tweak it on the dyno in the next few weeks

Yea ill need it... I have a cast on my left hand/arm lol - luckilly Im right handed Also with the amount of timing Im pulling, do you think Ill get quite a bit more out of it by advancing timing? Esp considering its 9:1 cr? I dont plan to tweak ign timing until I can get it on a dyno to reliably monitor knock.

advancing timeing early on in boost will help out quit a bit with how power comes on and spool up.
I cant say just how much of a change you will see but i can promise you will see a gain unless you start knocking.

what are you talking about? seriously im kinda lost. so far you cant monitor knock with the fic without having some odd ball problem. I forget exactly what the deal was but someone tried it. On the dyno you can monitor your timeing via scan gauge and if you suddenly see timeing dip down you know you hit knock. also if you have a high end scan tool you can datalog. I think code scout has this ability. you could do this on the street too but its kinda hard to do all by yourself.
At one time i was hopeing to figure out a way to tap into the knock sensor and run an led on the dash. you get knock and the led lights up. Just got to figure out how it would all work.

Haha thats exactly how i monitor for knock, i use scanxl through an elmscan and record street tuning pulls Ive yet to ever see it really dip like it was sensing knock, in fact pull over pull it seemed to advance timing. Im sure I can push it further, however Ive heard with E85 its pretty hard to cause knock.

hey thendawg mind showing your timing map..

crush i see what your saying but didnt know what thendawg was using to monitor knock. and they used or they still do sell knock lights. some look like shift lights.i think all you do is hook it up to your knock sensor but i can be wrong.

Yea - Ill take a screencap when I get home - remember this is on the FIC so its simply showing timing being pulled, not actual ignition timing.

found a little info on the turbo xs knocklight (pic i posted above) as well as another knock light review.

http://bbs.scoobynet.com/512314-knock-link-3.html

thendawg your ign map doesnt look bad imho, could use a bit more refineing. i see some jumps that could use a little smoothing but i wouldnt change a thing till you get up in the dyno.
honestly im impressed thendawg.
good job and good luck.

boost pressure is in absolute not gauge pressure (that throws most people off), but yeah you got the gist (boost up and down, rpm left to right.

Yea boost is bottom to top, than rpm is left to right. Boost is in absolute pressure so 14.7 is "0" on gauge pressure - for instance 10 psi boost would be 24.7 psia on this map
