Don't think so.

None needed. It doesnt alter any airflow or anything that would require a tune.

You will notice a difference though.

I have another question. If 10 psi is reaching in the 300's both tq and hp. What trap speeds in a 1/4 mile will that get?

I was doing a little comparing between the tc and the type s, and it seems the tc is putting better numbers down esp tq, on lower, or same psi and I was a little confused.
I know type s are 2.0 and tc are 2.4, but does it mean that the Tc's take less pounds of boost since slightly larger engine and can produce more.
Sorry if this is a little offtopic, but if someone can clear me up.

Displacement does make a difference, but in the case of the TypeS and the tC, it'll be hard to notice, even with FI. To give you a comparison, a stock motor K20A2 (02-04 TypeS) on a stock Greddy 5psi kit will put down approx. 240whp untuned. 7psi is about 280whp untuned, and 9psi will have you at 300whp untuned. So displacement doesn't have much when we're talking imports unless there is a huge displacement difference from 2.0L to 3.2L or something.

As a TypeS own, I will def give props to this ZPI kit producing the numbers that it is. TQ are definitely envious as Hondas are known to not have very good TQ output. A TypeS putting down 300whp will be in 220TQ range. Stock for stock, the tC has a better lower end than the TypeS. But top end, that's another story

To add to that just food for thought,

Type S has 40 More HP stock to start with over the tC. Yet, we can achieve the same hp levels on a lower PSI.

Yes, that is correct. Stock TypeS is rated at 200hp, and when dyno'd, comes to around 160-165whp. I believe the tCs are around 140whp?

Not to bash or start a war (as a Scion owner myself, I have much respect), but peak HP numbers play a very small part in a car. It all comes down to how the HP/TQ curves are setup to maximize power. It's all in the tune. Never the less, very impressive and glad to see how the tC has progressed.

Stock type s probably pales in the torque department.. Typical honda.

It's true. Stock TypeS will dyno 160whp/120tq typically.

Hence the reason we are ZPI Powered.

Sorry, I don't follow the tC FI section.. let alone this forum that much anymore (someone PM'd me for my input since I drove a TypeS), could you maybe point me to where I could learn more about ZPI powered?

im here, im keeping in touch with the thread, but as it has been said before i know nothing about turbo'd cars, im still in a learning process. i dont know how to figure out what car does what. my buddys camaro weighs in at 3100 lbs, and if im not mistaken a stock tc is 2900, and i have over 200 lbs in the rear, so were roughly the same weight, and i keep up with him, but yet hes putting over 100 more hp to the wheels. very odd. so keep on with the acura type s posts , its interesting.

Do you know what year/body style your buddy's Camero is? The weight varies a lot depending on year. You're right however that tC is around 2900. Sounds like your buddy has a V6 Camero, not V8

That's weird that you were able to keep up with him. Maybe he wasn't really racing you?

he got the jump, but once the turbo kicked in i was dead even with his back bumper. we ran from 45 to 100. maybe i have more hp then we dynoed it. i dont have time to redyno though, very busy person. hes not one to let someone win, he was really racing.
