Default E85 Timing

Just wanted to see how much more timing you guys have been able to get out of E85. Im still running fairly conservative as I dont really have a way to monitor knock at the moment. Id prefer someone using a FIC or Emanage that can post the retard vs stock timing as Im using a FIC, so I have no idea what the stock timing curve is to determine advance. If youre using an ems, thats fine just post the advance, I can always datalog a wot run on scanxl and see the stock timing curve than subtract the retard in the fic. Also post how much boost, and built bottom end or not. Thanks in advance!

Pull no timing till 9 psi then pull .25 per psi past that run your afrs like 12.5-9 till about the same then richen it out from 5500 on taper down to a 11.5-12

Id like to go to an AEM EMS - however Im a bit low on funds now, esp with just buying some bigger injectors (1200cc) and probably a second, or a larger fuel pump. Plus the FIC has been good to me I havent had any of the tuning issues most other have. The couple of small tuning issues Ive had, turned out to be mechanical or a sensor issue.

I'm pulling -3.25 at 8.5psi. If it makes u feel better, one of my buddies ran 8psi for the longest, without pulling any timing on 93 pump gas. He didn't know though, it was Kenny's tune (Mr. ZPI). It wasn't untill crush worked on his car that noticed what was going on. The tune was spot on, just no timing pulled. Not saying it's ok, but he ran the ____ out of the car in this Houston heat and it ran perfect.

Hey dawg, I'm gonna pm you a couple of questions later about the obdII reader computer software. I got the software that came with the adapter, but I'm finding it difficult to setup what I need. I also got the Palmers scanxl and they r pretty similar and is not making it easy either. I can send you a freebe of it if you wanna give it a try. Heck you might like it and might be able to exploit it and explain some features to me.

Later.

BTW, are you on E85 or pump gas? You can pm me for my number if youd like me to give you a ring to help ya through the software - not gunna post on here lol.

Hey Cory, you should be adding timing before and during low boost with E85... oh yeah, the FIC can't do that...

Carlanga, what are you trying to do with scanxl? I've had it about a year now and know it pretty well.

i ran 24 advance at 7 psi.. not a piggyback though. Im shooting for 12 afr all the way across.. but with the amount of timing i have it makes good power in the 12.3 range.

I wonder how much timing is "not pulling timing" anyone knows?

^ hey man lemme know your total timing.. its a pain not to afford a dyno and its such a hassle having to stop somewhere just to read the plugs lol.. oh, if you doubt your timing on the street check your timing mark on the plugs.. you guys running 2 step cold?

Im running 1 step colder right now - autolite 3922's. I was running 2 step colder ngk bkreix8's but i fouled them from too much fuel when i had the maf sensor issue and couldnt find any more 8's in town so I just went with a copper plug 1 step colder. Also, Ive heard copper with tight gap (im running .026) is the way to go on e85. Anyone know where I could find a 2 step colder copper plug? Autolite shows 3922 is the coldest they have and ngk only goes to a 7 in copper

really you cant find 2 step colder? there's plenty online vendors here even amazon.. locally you can try oreily's or autozone have them order you by part number.. or you can clean your fouled ones as long as tip/porcelain and ground straps are fine.. i think you should go back to iridiums just imo

think i may call up oreilleys and order some more ngk 2 step colder iridiums. As for 2 step colder - it appears the only option is iridium as I cant find anything in copper/resistor plugs more than 1 step colder.

i have like a couple of sets of 2 steps here but they need to be cleaned but they're good physically.. i tried 1 step cold and they seem to do good on my 7 psi.. as I bumped boost to 10-13, its seemed like they are too hot so I went back to 2 step.
