oh, well i mean when the needle inside the stock gauge goes past mid point your car is getting too high so check the oil gauge and see waht the temp is....likewise go check when it's in the middle and steady and check oil temp and you should be fine if your car is running fine.

i don't know that was half ___ advice. theres no real number. obviously you don't want it 2 degrees and don't want it 900 degrees

I'm really liking the AMSOIL...its expensive at rated at 25,000 miles for most cars, 10,000 for boosted applications. I'll still change mine every 3,000 or so. It is expensive though but that's why I want to have some of those oil analysis's done to see how far it could really go, if I can save some money by not changing oil prematurely and know the protection is still there i'll do that.

I noticed the car runs cooler on the AMSOIL than Mobil 1 and the motor doesn't produce as much noise. I really do like the decision to go with AMSOIL and just may keep it. I was also thinking about trying Mutol but i'll see how AMSOIL does first.

I'm sending mine to Blackstone Labs.

http://www.blackstone-labs.com/

You need to order a kit, you just can't sent them a pint of oil lol. You need to fill out some information that comes with the packet that tells them about your car, mileage, F/I, etc. The kit itself is free, you only pay when the analysis is sent off to be done. It costs $22.50 per analysis.

http://www.blackstone-labs.com/free-test-kits.php

Oil isn't a hazardous material. Postage to send off the sample costs about $2.

Default Blown Turbo Seals

My Dezod Spec'd Turbo has blown seals.

I was out of town in Charlotte when I was in the passenger seat allowing my buddy to drive the car when we were sitting at a red light and he says, "is that white smoke coming from your hood?", he pulls over, I pop the hood and certainly there was light white smoke coming from the top hot side of the turbo.

After further observation I noticed that one of the bolts that holds the turbo onto the downpipe was completely missing, another bolt was loose (I could see the washer spinning), and another bolts was broken in a failed attempt to tighten the bolt down so that leaves 2 remaining bolts holding the turbo on.

I drove it home, I didn't really have a choice, 331 miles back to Auburn, I stopped every so often to check oil levels and make sure the oil wasn't coming out even worse.

This morning, it was pretty burr outside, so I remote start the car and walk outside 10 minutes later to find the cabin filled with smoke, FML, pop the hood and noticed the oil leak has gotten worse and could now see drips of oil on the ground.

There is no shaft play or anything, just the bad seals it seems like. I still have to drive to work and school, well I can catch the bus to school but definitely to work.

It would have been a perfect time to upgrade the Dezod Spec'd 50 trim that seems to be known for seals going but that would mean a re-tune, another trip to PTUNING, and I can't really afford a new turbo, oil and water cooled like I really want. So instead I think i'm going to remove this turbo this weekend, or at least try, seems like i'm going to either need a torque wrench or impact gun to get those dang bolts off and a quart of oil when I undo the oil return line.

I can't do the uninstall in Auburn though so i'll need to go to Atlanta, depending on how bad the oil leak is, on Friday and begin the work.

Now, I know i'll need a new exhaust manifold gasket but is there a gasket that goes between downpipe and exhaust side of the turbo?

Going outside to try to capture the FAIL of the turbo in some pics.

i found one but its not a true gasket per say...it was made of stainless steal...just a real thin plate but did the job i guess. It took alot of searching just to find that. If i had to do it all over again i might just go with some copper rtv or have the surface machined so no gasket is needed.

So i'm being really observant today, among further observation, I noticed that not only is 1 bolt broken and 1 bolt missing but 2 bolts are missing, 1 bolt is broken, 1 bolt is loose and that means only 1 bolt is holding it securely, or at least I hope it is secure.

Turbo is still smoking but I capture it in the pics, it was smoking like a chimney this morning.

The bolt on top is the broken bolt, the pics show the other 2 bolts that are missing.
