Certainly feels good to have the lost gas mileage due to the turbo back not to mention the car feels smoother like it isn't going to take off, aka SLOW LOL, I'm on the road and just did my 1st fill-up of mid-grade in over a year....it felt weird LOL

lol I had better gas miles when boosted than stock which goes to show that I baby the car too much.

Wow there is a lot of turbo part outs the last few months.
I have messed around with turbo projects on past vehicle's and they have always ended up in a part out. This is why Ill never do a turbo project again. Way to much to deal with!
Thanks for reminding me that there is NO WAY I wanna go turbo, Ill stay with my supercharger.

I hope you're not talking about the FAIL which is the TRD S/C....I would go Turbo any day before I would remotely consider looking at that garbage.

Hit or miss with problems on the supercharger. I installed mine myself so hopefully Ill get in 40,000 miles before I have to touch it. All I have to worry about is the shaft or bearings. Doesn't compare to a turbo setup, as it was a every other day event for me.

Wink

Good luck with it!

I thought about it before going turbo and reading all the horror stories.

TRD Sparks didn't even recommend the thing which spoke volumes. In fact they stated in order to find parts for it after it was discontinued would essentially take an act of Congress and the costs associated would be sky high.

They were honest and I went a different way, I really didn't want to go that far for 50hp, that's really overkill.

Judging by their periodic failure, I'm glad I stayed away.

If that was the case, then you simply do not know what you're doing.

^ ecko gave the exact same reasons to why he got rid of his turbo as why I got rid of mine. I'm sure its the same reason for the 3 others that are parting with their turbo right now. What I'm saying is, been there done that. I'm not planning on doing that again to my daily driver. I would do the turbo thing again if I had a full out race car...

Definetly not saying that a supercharger is better than a turbo. So lets stay away from going down that road.

Default Update

Well as my turbo excursion came to an end I was contemplating on trading the car in or re-boosting with PTUNING short block and new turbo system, I haven't come to a conclusion but I would probably have $10,000 to kick around come August. That could get me the block and a turbo system of my choice but wouldn't leave much room for tuning, install, etc. If I wait until January/February 2011 I would have money for the rest of the components. At that time I would have roughly $9000 left before I own the car so what do I do?

Do I pay the car off and keep it NA? Do I pay the car off and trade it in? Do I pay the car off, save money for a down payment on a newly used car? Do I try to pay the car off, save more money and re-boost which means i wouldn't see boost til he end of 2011? Do I just say eff it and re-boost ASAP August 2010/Jan 2011?

If I re-boosted I would go with the PTUNING short block, Prosport Gauges, PTUNING or custom 3" turbo back, ATi Gauge Pod, Descendant or PTUNING Turbo System, AEM F/IC or PTUNING's Haltech, PTUNING tune.

I would basically have PTUNING or someone competent enough install my motor, drive to Texas and have Chris do it or drive to Florida and have Mike do it, whomever lets me crash on the floor while i'm there. I know both are competent enough to tune me too at least until I get to PTUNING and while we're at it drop in the ACT clutch i've been hold onto waiting for my Competition Clutch Stage 4 to hit the fan like everyone else's.

....decisions, decisions....if I were to trade in the car I have been looking at my options:

G37
Camaro 2LT RS Package (v6 non-SS model)
Equinox 2LT
WRX Premium
Genesis Coupe 2.0T...until I drove it...I hate it

Whatever I do I would do it with cash, no credit card purchases for anything.
