eclipse turbo on a tc?
well i was told the turbo was a zpi turbo on the car when i bought it. well i ended up having to take the turbo off the car and come to find out the turbo is actually for an eclipse? the numbers read td05h. iam new to forced induction. i might sound dumb but iam going to school for auto. still learning on forced induction especially. the turbo was pushing oil into my intake. i was told this was bad seal or O rings. now i am going to be going to wyotech in september and i have had alot of probelms with this car working out some kinks. well my question is how much stress does 10 psi actually put on a vvti? my school is only 9 months long. but will i be having to look for a new engine? i have a couple buddies saying i will. but alot of people run the same boost as me and dont have any probelms. the car only has 38000 miles on it. its an 06. i have to rebuild the turbo and get it balanced. now with the trubo beening rebuilt does the turbos hole after beening rebuilt? or once they break once should you just buy a new turbo? any input of info is appreciated. thanks guys

ok i will try to answer some questions. the turbo from a ZPI kit is a mitsubishi heavy industries (MHI) turbo i think its a 16g MHI turbo.
when you say things like 10psi on vvti makes you sounds REALLY not smart. i dont really know if you are referring to the ecu or the actual engine but people run 8-12psi daily on the stock block with a bigger turbo than a 16g.
the turbo should hold up just fine if you sent it to get rebuilt.
as long as you tune it safely and dont push more than 350whp on the stock block you will not need a new engine but you should have alot of money in the bank just in case something happens.

i am not sure what turbo the zpi kit comes with but i do know the the greddy turbo kit comes with an mitsubishi turbo which is a 18g thats the kit i have
not as far as oil goin into your intake get an oil catch can that should fix it... thats blow by
and yes 10psi is alot for a stock motor but zpi kit comes with a smaller turbo so u might be ok i wouldnt run that much on stock i ran 9.5psi and blew the motor i got it fully built now
you should not push more then 280 if u wanna keep it safe on a stock motor

sorry i meant block. i dont know if a catch can would fix the oil problem sense the oil is coming from the turbo. i was told when i bought the car is was pushing 300 whp. now i am not sure if this is correct or not. i did some research on the numbers on the turbo and i found that the turbo i have is a 12g. how much difference between the 16g and the 12g turbos?

the zpi kit comes with a big evo 3 16g found on the lancer evolutions.... the 12g is way different from the 16g lol and also 300whp...sounds like the guy took you for a fool...thats very unlikely

Ya I have the ZPI stage 1 kit. The 16G is a small turbo but some people like them becasue the spool up so quickly.
As far as the moto goes you can run 10psi and be fine becasue of the small turbo. 10psi on the 16G is like 5-7 on other turbos. And its not pushing 300WHP on 10psi with the 16G turbo, Its probly only like 240-260WHP (Anyone agree with those numbers?)
You will be fine with the stock motor. Just rebuild the turbo and have fun with it!!

Ok, there is a LOT of mis-information in this thread.
First let me start by saying a 16G on 10 Lbs of boost is a 300whp car. 7 PSI is 250whp/260wtq (I would know, dynoed it).
Secondly, the whole not running more than 10 PSI or it's taboo is a off as well. I run 12 daily on pump gas on a 20G not 16. PTuning ran 14 + meth injection on a stock motor for half the 08 season of Time Attack (not some easy street driving if you know what I mean).
Third, YES the ZPI kits came with the Big Evo III 16G turbo. A 12g is like twice as small, and should belong on an xB, not a tC (if it really is a 12g that's on your car).
Get the turbo rebuilt and you will be fine.
EOT now.

Dnyojet vs Dyno Dynamics. And no 9 PSI is not 240whp, maybe on a Dyno Dynamics, but not a dynojet.
