Hmm interesting. Im just hoping 08 ecu + Eman Ultimate will allow me to bypass the rev limiter. Id feel alot better about putting these $300 valvesprings/retainers in, knowing that it will work. I guess I can look at it this way, oh well if it doesnt work, Ill already have the head done for when I can afford a standalone down the road.

This is the only time it bounced pretty good (btw all these vids are at the 1/8th mile, and cause its so short i dont bother shifting to 4th so i let it hit the rev limit. rev limit hits either just before the finish or at it)

in this vid below my clutch slipped bad and i hit the rev limit...car just fell flat...then it picked up

So Im bumping this up for reference. Heres what Ive found out on our cars...

You CAN raise the rev limit on any Scion tc (05-10) EXCEPT for the 07. The 07 for some reason also closes the throttle body at redline, which there is no way to bypass. However, if you happen to have an 07, you CAN simply swap in an 08/09/10 ECU (Which you can find on car-part.com for under $100)

Ive done this, so I'm speaking from EXPERIENCE not hearsay (I swapped an 09 M/T ECU into my 07)

There's a lot of misinformation on this that Ive ran into so I just wanted to clear things up.

Does the ecu need any type of service by the dealer or is it plug n play?

Just have to do the paperclip trick to bind the transponder to the new ECU. I posted about it awhile back, but if you need the exact directions theyre in the FSM, or I can post them when I get home tonight.

Heres a good DIY which has pics

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=149243

Just disregard that his post was intended to tell folks how to go from a s/c ecu to a stock ecu, its the same procedure. Also Ive verified you can pretty much interchange any ecu on the 07 as long as its 07+ (the 05-06 had a completely diff wiring harness)

So basically all you have to do is get an 08-09-10 ecu from a junkyard, swap em out (2 bolts, one of which is a bit of a PITA), than follow that procedure to learn the new ecu to the car's transponder.

Only downside, as Ive learned, you can only go past the stock rev limit for a certain period of time, than there is some safety that kicks in and closes the throttle. This happens on any 08+ ECU. (As previously noted, the 07 ecu wont work at all) Ive had no problem running a 7200rpm rev limit though. FYI, the 05/06 didnt have this, so they can run past the stock rev limit however long without issue.
