Ive always been told to use .5mm over the piston bore.
stock is 88.5mm and cometic's start at 89mm.
Either way I'm sure your fine.

Hey guys, xB owner here. One of the (comparitively) few cracking open the 1NZ-FE. I got this book for my build and found it very helpful, especially on the balancing and assembly chapters. The only tools I was missing were an interior micrometer for and a telescoping bore gauge. The engine tech is a little dated but to be honest, short block technology hasn't moved in the last 30 years, only the head.

ever bearing that doesnt meet toyota spec's should be coated and that will happen prolly like 90% of the time.

well, dependin on the brand you get different materials, different hardnesses that are available and different spec clearances...that's all i meant, i mean you could get stock bearings and get them coated, but are they as strong as clevite bearings that are coated?

My bad, I guess i wasn't very clear. Since I wanted race series ACL I had to buy them from ptuning and send them to calico since they don't stock the race series.
My friend used to work for two nascar teams as their engineer and they all swear by Calico's CT-1 bearing coating.

I dont see how a gasket for our cars would cost 300.....i know the main seal's cost like 66 for the big one and 20 something for the pulley side.
Not sure about the OEM HG. I went with Cometic and paid 75 for it.
So no way should a "kit" add up to 300. Way too much IMO.

it included everything from the main seal to the head gasket, and exhaust gasket and intake manifold gasket
it made somewhat sense, i jut ddon't need alot of it so i figured i'd piece it together instead
