I do want to go f/i, but not sure due to the pricing. I know I can go turbo instead, but I still have 94000mi left on the warranty

Any thoughts?

Just traded in my s/c tC. I think if I could do it all over again I would have went turbo, and I bet you I'd still have the car. The s/c wasnt bad, but you kinda get to a road block with it power wise where if you want more you have to shell out a lot of cash, and at that point you'd bearly be hanging with the turbo guys.

So then why did TRD just go with a turbo instead of a s/c?

You mean "why did TRD go with a S/C instead of a turbo? well, because they wanted to keep what ever unit they went with 50 state legal and to give people some kind of warranty, that would have been harder if they would have done a turbo instead, harder to pass emissions and just not reliable enough to them to want to offer any kind of warranty for it, I'm sure the S/C was more cost efficient for them as well, I'm sure there were other factors, but these are the ones that make sense to me......
