Personally, I like the FIC.

Chin, I thought you hated the Ultimate when you used to have it in your car?

Or was it the Blue you had?

All about goals and features you want really. Or what your tuner knows to tune best with.

I am currently going through this dilemma myself. I have a Dezod S1 with an FI/C and have it all tuned. I am contemplating selling my DP, S-pipe, and turbo mani and going with the boost flow EL manifold and making a custom 3" DP. I also am contemplating ditching the FI/C for the Emanage Ultimate. My only reasoning for doing this was for the speed limiter delete and rev limiter adjustment. But then I got to thinking, unless I get a set of BC cams and/or a bigger turbo, there is no reason to rev further and risk damage to my head with no major power increase.

Also I have heard that the Emanage Blue has issues with the stock ECU trying to fight it. I never had this issue with my FI/C. So basically my real questions are, Does the Ultimate still have similar issues as the Blue in terms of fooling the stock ECU? And, Does the ultimate have any other redeeming qualities/features over the FI/C aside from 2-Step/Rev Limiter/Speed Limiter adjustment?

Now I have the WOT-box and thus have a 2 step (kinda annoying though). But one issue that is still unresolved is, because I have a 2007, I have the uber homo fuel cut vs the ignition cut rev limiter. This supposedly will be fixable via the WOT-box with one of the upcoming firmware updates however. Also I don't really like the WOT-box's 2-step, it seems unreliable and I have trouble engaging sometimes. I tried using it at the track this past Friday and it was not behaving well.

I won't be using the car for drag racing very much and it will mostly be street driven. But if the 2-Step on the Ultimate is easier to use then that may be another reason to go that way.

They both work and both work well. Go to PTUNING to be tuned and they'll set you straight. Unless you plan on doing some work to the motor to take advantage of all the features the Ultimate offers then go F/IC for partial throttle tuning, perfect for the DD. The F/IC can cause the car to start roughly, mainly due to the crank signal having to go through the F/IC first, I had this issue as well as some others, but replacing the F/IC takes care of that. This is not an issue with the Ultimate as the output is outside of the box, i.e. the car fires right up just as if it were stock, while the F/IC may take a littler longer. Anyway, each has their ups and downs, both work, if you have $1300 to spend wait or the PTUNING Haltech unit, best of both worlds, until then F/IC for stock internals or Ultimate for future motor work.

PTuning are E-Ultimate Guru's. And they can tune the F/IC.

However, there is a reason why they include the F/IC on their Street kit, but use an Ultimate on their Race kit, and consequently on their Time Attack car as well.

The Ultimate can do everything the F/IC can, and then you add in the 2step launch control it can do, speed cut removal and increase in rpms ability. Thus placing it above the F/IC when it comes to racing your car. If you are just looking to get to the grocery store a little faster then, either can do the job. It's when it comes to racing is when the two separate from each other.

And this thread has been created 5 other times. And the consensus is:

Ultimate > F/IC > E-Blue

With as many stories I hear about the F/IC though....I would take even a blue over it so I wouldn't have to deal with the headache it produces (had the blue for 3 years, never had a problem with it. Friends have it on his tC for about 2 years....he's been tuned one time). BUT once you get over those hurdles, I hear it's a good piece of gear.

I love my F/IC. However, if you are looking at upper 300 to 400 horsepower, you may want a standalone. At those levels, you may want more than a piggyback can give you. Otherwise, I recommend the F/IC. Very easy to tune and partial throttle is nice.
