Thumbs up Finally Installing the Turbo!

Well, it's finally time to install the turbo I got from twilighttuner!

Never done a turbo install before, but I understand the mechanics behind it, so I should be fine with the research I have done here.

The only thing that i'm stumped on right now are how to connect all the vacuum lines. I looked at a couple posts that meaty responded to with pics and they show how to tap into the brake booster for the vacuum block, but where do the rest of the hoses go?

Something like this would be really helpful;

bov--->vacuum block
wastegate---->vacuum block

etc.

Lemme know if I missed the post that explained this. Thanks all!

Im sure its been posted somewhere before but here goes

BOV------Vacuum block
Wastegate------taped turbocharger
boost gauge------Vacuum block
If using AEM FIC------Vacuum block

If you got other lines for something else let us know what they are

Ok, just about to start day two.

I got everything ready last night and uninstalled just about everything.

I'm stuck with the pesky o2 sensor in the stock s pipe. I heard it's a real pita and it's starting to be. Im gonna try to work in some wd-40 on it to see if that loosens it at all.

You can put the wastegate to vacuum block also if there no fitting on the turbo and the other line to boost controller unless you just going off the wastegate springs.

There's a fitting on the turbo, so the wastegate and turbo are good to go for the vacuum line.

Some of the stock bolts on the exhaust hangers and headers are a b!tch!!

With the O2 i used a hammer and a wrench. But make sure that the wrench is on there good otherwise you're going to strip the O2 sensor.

All the exhaust parts are now off, with a little muscle and leverage. The exhaust manifold o2 sensor wont come out.

Also, working on the damn oil pan.

Like I said try a hammer. I have done it with a few tc's already.

Well, got all the piping in and the turbo hooked up. Still working on getting the exhaust mani o2 sensor out. I think it might have cross threaded like I have seen other people posting about.

Other than that hang up, just need to fully mount the ic, run the vacuum lines, hookup the gauges, and hope it all works long enough to get it to the tuner!

I dont know if this info will help you out at all but thought i would let you know. When i turboed my car, I drove my car to a tuner located about 350 miles away from my location with FIC not hooked up and stock fuel injectors. I put in the PNP harness but just ran the bypass harness so it was like not having a management at all. All i did to get their safely was to keep the car away from boost. When i got to the tuners, I plugged in the new injectors and my tuner just plugged in the harness to FIC and started tunning it.

Good idea, i'll either use that or just use the tune that the previous owner had on here with the same turbo kit to get myself to the tuner and get a new tune.

Ok, I ended up buying a new a/f sensor for the exhaust manifold.

I got everything else installed today. Calibrated the f/ic and the car started right up.

According to my gauges, I have a vacuum leak somewhere. I also have a small oil leakage coming from the T fitting for the sensors. I'll let the oil cool down and gel up over-night and get those cleaned up and tightened.

Other than those small issues it all seems to be running fine for now. Haven't actually driven it yet, but it idles fine. It all seems good enough to limp to the tuners at UMS next monday.

Took it for a test drive tonight. AFR stayed around 14.5 cruising and 11 when I got on it. Think that's about right.

I have a little bit of an exhaust leak between the s pipe and mid pipe, but minimal enough that I can live with it for now.

The only thing that I am not too sure about is the oil pressure. It stays around 20-30 when I first start up and idle. Cruising is around 60+. After it's warmed up and I idle, it's around 10psi. That seems a little low to me. Is that ok?
