yea 2.5" exhaust is a minimal turbo exhaust...a typical turbo exhaust is 3"...this will help spool up and down and give you more hp/trq as well..

I heard it wasn't illegal unless it's more than 3 inches. Anyhow, how are you going to get caught shooting a flame. Going WOT past a cop...

By the way, that's why my Sig said Flame Thrower for the longest time. Unburnt fuel is being dumped into the exhaust system because the car is overly rich. Unburnt fuel ignites and poof! But if you have a Cat on your car, then it's going to ruin the cat.

PS.....I'm catless.

Not true.

3 inch is to big for "most" of the turbo tC's on this board. The guys running 3 inches if you look at the dyno sheets, they are having low tQ numbers.

I think it's more focused on "in between" the shift as to when it goes rich enough to dump fuel. And as far as our car was concern, I was around low/mid 10's A/F ratio.

that's around the range I was thinking...... tuning off MAP (manifold absolute) kinda takes that richness out of there..... of course the set up he is running is tuned off the MAF for load, if its the UNICHIP and the turbonetics kit....

It happens when you are catless. Its fine. My buddies supra, evo, and Ls1 all do this. Why do people try to make explanations for something they dont know?

Unburnt fuel being dumped into the exhaust. Having a cat or not has nothing to do with that part.

Are you serious? lawl. How come with a Ls1 when you take the cats off and put a Y pipe it shoots flame out of the exhaust. HMMM maybe because the cats not doing its job of cleaning the exhaust up. Maybe becuase of backpressure? ITS NORMAL.

...yea and dezod is coming out with a turbo cam so it shouldnt matter...i would rather have a free flowing system at 3" and add a cam to the mix as well...i agree that the numbers do fall for trq, but not for hp and quickness of spooling.

shooting flames is the best part about owning a turbo.

There is an rx-7 that does this...when he revs it very high like at redline and lets off it sounds like a machine gun going off and a huge flame, not sure if its good or bad but I think it means there is too much pressure in your exhaust and it gets ignited some how. i think everyone else covered it pretty well tho
