So its safe to assume that someone running a setup flowing the air of say a 50trim turbo... pushing over 250 to the wheels would be opening a bottleneck with the 3''

rhythmnsmoke is right I have a 3 in esxt on my 300whp car and 292tq. so I dont think a 3in gives u less tq. I dont have a big turbo on mine but a piggy back is were the down fall is I need a stand alone to get a full tune

GURU, if peak volumetric efficiency(VE) and peak torque occur at the same place which for us is 4000rpm, in a turbo application where VE is at or over 100% does the 2AZ still breath its best at this RPM (4grand)???

...yea and dezod is coming out with a turbo cam so it shouldnt matter...i would rather have a free flowing system at 3" and add a cam to the mix as well...i agree that the numbers do fall for trq, but not for hp and quickness of spooling.

I prefer tq. And there are already cams for the tC. You just have to look in the right places.

It's not something that you can have an opinion on agreeing or disagreeing. It's in the dyno sheets, not a debatable issue. 2.5 inch has already been proven to support 400whp, not sure where you got the 200-250whp from.

Will 2.5 in support that much power? Sure. WIll a 3 inch exhaust net gains in torque and HP at that those levels absolutely. As you increase power you also increase the gains made by installing a 3 inch exhaust. It's simple mathematics. As long as your velocity doesn't slow down appreciably (which it shouldn't on a well designed setup) there should be no downside. Also keep in mind that torque capacity in relation to HP on these cars will also vary due to boost pressure run which will of course vary with different turbos and setups. It is all relative I suppose but the bottom line is that a 3 inch will help some of these guys appreciably. All the 3 inch exhaust turbo Tc's I've dyno'd made more toque than HP.

Brian06Tc to answer your question the 05-06 Tc's peak power point is only 5500 RPM with stock camshafts and compression ratio. 07-08's peak later at 6000 RPM due to changes in the camshaft profile among other minor things. That peak power point changes little but the torque peak can move around on you based on spool up characteristics of the turbine used.

Ok so thats what I was thinking spool up determine torque peak but peak boost pressure combined with the higher rpm meaning more putts per time is where the peak power occurs so peak VE is at spool up in a turbo application?

Well remember that VE on a turbo car actually hits more than 100% due to boost pressure over atmospheric. See this article:

Technically I think Peak VE is just after you hit peak boost. As you can see from any dyno chart your torque peaks about 200-500 RPM AFTER you hit peak/desired boost pressure.
