getting a short block for $130
what do you guys think? is that too much?
it's a short block with the 3rd and 4th bearings gone, no transmission, no head.
my friend is selling it to me and i was wondering about your input.

Is it cracked anywhere? Does it come with the crankshaft and main caps? Who cares about the bearings - you'll be replacing those I would assume.
If its in good condition and comes with a good crank and main caps then yes great deal.

not cracked, or so he says...he just blew his bearings and brought it into toyota, he said that right before he brought it in it was actually still running just burning oil like a ****.
it comes with crank, main caps, rods, pistons am i forgetting anything?

i already have two oil pans...i think it includes the lower case too. im not sure i have yet to actually see it cuz i'm lazy as ____.

How do you know they're perfectly good?
Even if they were, I wouldn't sell used stock pistons and rods to anyone only because I'm not an A-hole. It's bad to reinstall used parts like that. Why invest in the machining to prepare cylinders for used stock parts - and even if you try, the clearances will be even larger because the stock parts are already worn in.

the bearings on this 09 engine that i got looked prestine, damn near reuse em. I was quit shocked to see that since one rod was bent. Thats why i assume it ingested water and stopped that piston dead cold in its tracks bending the rod. I was told that it came from a flood car so i kinda put two and two togather.

So as Steve said, they could be perfectly good. Maybe they're not. It's a case by case decision.
Lastly - to AEN - I purchased my last car's (bare) block and caps for $80 and a crank for $75. Seems like you're beating my prices to a good deal if everything works fine.
