The engine lift with load balancer really helped when it came to maneuvering the engine around in the engine bay.
Worked on the car into the night for 2 days to get everything in, had a problem with remembering how the damn wiring harness went. The new engine already had some of the brackets on it, and i had the brackets from the old engine and it confused me.
Overall the install went well, didn't break anything! I did loose a bolt, but i picked up a spare at the dealership last week. Also, stock throwout bearing for the win!! My act bearing was making noise, even though it was only a month old, changed to stock and no more noise. The extended slave cylinder pushrod for the clutch is also very nice, no more clutch engaging at the floor.

Looks like I spoke too soon, there is a problem now. After putting about 100 miles on it. I have a knocking sound coming from the engine. Also accompanying the knocking sound, when i rev to about 4,500 while driving, it sounds like i have 2 step and i lose power when it happens.
Everything was working fine so i have no clue what this problem is now, don't think there is enough power to have bent a rod or anything. Almost seems to me like its a valve problem because of the strange misfiring/two step sounding thing thats happening when the revs get higher.
Any input appreciate! I need to find out where to start before i start fixing this.

Yea, but it didn't do it until after 100 miles, and it doesn't sound like a slap, sounds like a knocking. And i assume piston slap would be apparent more when the engine is cold and not when its warmed up, limp mode might be happening though. I'm trying to trouble shoot now, i'll see what i come up with.

just thinking out loud but if it is a knock the knock sensor may be picking that up (you using stock ecu and piggy or standalone?) if its picking it up then it may be pulling crazy amount of timing causing the 2step like issue. check with a scanner to see what your timing is if using the stock ecu.

I'm using the fi/c, the knock can't be a tuning issue, but i found out at certain rpm's the knock goes away, and if i keep on the pedal it will stutter and then after it keeps pulling as normal. Getting a bit of smoke from the exhaust also, seems to me like something is wrong in the head. Anyone tried getting the head off without pulling the motor?

so everything was fine for 100miles then this happens? anyother issues or odd noises? when does it smoke and any idea of your oil pressure? what color smoke? what rpm and boost level do you get the knock and hesitation? when does it go away?

I havnt tried taking the head off with the engine in the car, im thinking it would be pretty tough to do. I can find out for ya monday though, pulling an engine for inspection.

That is the only issue, the knock. It goes away when the engine is cold, but comes right back as soon as its warmed up. It also sounds like it gets kinda quieter and almost goes away when driving at 2k rpm with the pedal barely pressed. The hesitation just happens at like 4k 7-8 psi, it hesitates for a second and then keeps pulling normally. Smoke smells oily, i'm thinking if its a valve though i'm getting pressure into the crankcase and the seals on the turbo are letting some oil through.

if you think its that you could run the engine till warm and take the oil fill cap off and see if you see smoke and what the smoke smells like. if it smells like exhaust then maybe you have a bit of blow by or valve seal may be damaged. what are the afr's when it studders?

did you go with lower comp pistons? just wondering. you could also look into a comp test, that should tell ya if the valves are sealing and the rings.
the hesitation is sounding like a tuning issue at this point. is the knock the loudest just before or during the hesitation?
