Gompka build - Running great!

wow i just heard your vid. when i posted ^^ i was on my phone , so i couldnt see or hear vid.. it sounds like a sticking valve.or rod bearing.
try to narrow down what cylinder, remove all 4 10mm bolts from coils, start engine warm up and once engine starts makeing noise , slowly pull out one coil at a time and see if noise changes or goes away.. if it does changes, thats the cylinder your having problems with. it will help you narrow down your problem..

Sound still exists when pulling the coils off each cylinder, no change in the sound. I was talking to Don from Dezod and he was kind of stumped also. Usually if its something with the rods you would get a double tap and the clearances would get tighter as the engine warms up. This is weird

hmmm.... I don't think I am following you elevation as an oil pressure relief valve opens for excessive pressure. The oil pressure would be at it's highest cold.
What year motor? 05-06 or 07+?
What oil viscosity are you running?
Have you listened with a stethoscope yet and narrowed down the location? I do agree to try not to run it but to really diagnose this it needs to be listened to. I don't know if you will see anything too obvious if you tore it down at this point. This is my suggestion that way if you do have to tear down, you know about where you need to look. I'm very interested to see what the problem is. I would love to work on it haha.

I'm really thinking its the valve clearance, exhaust valves on cylinder one make a sound almost identical when you push them down and let them pop up against the cam. I have to wait for the engine to cool down and will check clearance tomorrow and order new followers/buckets.

have a substancial amount of shiny silver particles in the oil filter. oil pressure is 65psi on startup and 40 psi once the car warms up, no differenence in oil pressure can be seen when the knocking starts.

noise
possible machine shop didnt clean, after engine work. my motor oil also had the same shiny silver particles after head work was done. so i performed oil change right after i noticed particles and again after i wormed up engine. no more shiny silver particles in my oil. sticking valve .. yes once in a while we do get customers with sticking valves. also did you install your cam bearing?

Shiny silver and gold flecks is usually bearing babbit and backing material. If it is shiny and pearlescent then it is more related to glass bead. Never use glass bead on anything engine related. It's a nightmare to remove and damages engines in short order.
I'm sorry to hear you having this issue Dave. It sucks when things like this happen.

My motor sounded exactly like this, oil was fine nothing in it AT ALL, but my pressure was bad, very bad. threw a bearing and cost me 2400 =(
the reason why it starts doing it when it warms up is because the oil pressure goes down, depending on your weight,10-30 should be 70-80 on cold start and idle warm should be 15-30/ up to 40 drving
hope you can get this fixed, good luck bro

Re: Gompka build - Problem... @&#$*% Vid on pg.8
wtf r u talking bout.... the low oil pressure light comes on at 5 psi... if ur cars makikng 50 psi of oil pressure at idle after driving.. its to thick
