Default HELP...!! Going way too lean under load!

PLEASE HELP!!

I have a '06 scion tc 5spd 43k miles with the GReddy turbo kit installed running the Emanage Ultimate with a Dezod.com pnp harness on 6psi. So my car has been running great but just the other day I decided to spray off my engine bay with a low pressure hose to clean off salt spray from the roads. The car has sat a week in the garage so I know its dry.

Now everytime I boost it goes to 11 afr then drops to 19-20 afr (not even readable on my UEGO) in seconds. And it stays that lean for 15-20 seconds whether I am boosting or idling or tapping the throttle. I can make it achieve this same problem just by reving the motor in nuetral. I thought it was the fuel pump not keeping up so I just installed a Walbro 255 from Dezod.com but its still the same. Any ideas guys? Vacuum leak? Sensor? I can go datalog it on my Ultimate but will that help you guys?
I know its not my tune because I tried adding fuel or even my e85 map.

PLEASE HELP!!

u may have shorted out the wideband sensor or u just got it wet and needs to dry, maybe u got your injector wiring wet too? take a long flat head screw driver and put the handle to your ear and the flat tip to each injector make sure u hear them all ticking evenly

it could be a short or corrosion causing this. I would take your wideband off your exhaust and possition it where you can put rag thats been sprayed with either gas or carbcleaner. this should make your readings rich and stay there, if it goes rich for a second and then goes lean it could be a bad sensor or connector maybe corroded.

any exhaust leaks?

Which wideband are you talking about checking? The AEM or the factory one on the downpipe? I will check the injectors with the screwdriver method right now. I checked the injector wiring already. I thought it could be my plugs so I put new plugs (bkr7eix-11) in too but that didnt work either. I dont have any exhaust leaks that I know of but I will recheck. Thanks guys.

Ok no exhaust leaks. And as for the injector screwdriver test they all tick but the one closest to the throttle body is quieter. O2 sensors look ok from just a quick outside glance. I will take them out and check them out tomorrow. The connector for the main o2 is clean and a good seal. I disconnected the battery for the night hoping to clear the ecu memory. What other connectors should I check?

did you spray a vacuum line loose? maybe the pcv line or the other one from the valve cover? is your boost increasing more then 6 psi now?

I checked both "blow by" vacuum hoses off the valve cover and they are on tight. I am gonna go through all the vacuum lines and every electrical connector i can find tomorrow. And take out the o2 sensors and check them. Thanks for the help. I will keep you posted.

your wide band.

the system too rich code sounds like your fuel trims are pretty off so a tune is prolly needed.

you could also try removing the fic and plug in the ecu, see if the problem goes away.

Hey thanks for the help guys. I will test my AEM wideband today and let you know. BUt would the AEM make my car run lean? Its running lean because it gets really hot and bogs a bit when it shows lean on the guage. And my AEM is only 10 months old.

the wideband will show lean even if your running hella rich if a) you have a big enough exhaust leak b) wideband sensor is unpluged, damaged, corroded (also some silicones are not o2 sensor safe and can kill a sensor).

are you right now with this lean issue showing on your wideband still throwing a too rich code? could you post up all the codes your throwing?

OK so i took my wideband out and there was a bunch of dirt in the plug so i sprayed it out with brake cleaner and now its just showing --- constantly. I am gonna try dielectric grease but its probably not gonna help. Looks like I need a new wideband. :-( I will keep you guys posted. My only CEL was P0172. And I have been getting it for about 3 weeks now.

as far as the code goes your fuel trims are most likely out of wack...needs a tune and that code should go away. good luck
