Default Hot hood

So alot of my friends drive nissans and most of them are turbo.... the following mod is very common but I have never seen it on any other type of car. What is being done is they take out the bolts to the hinges of the hood out.... add an extra bolt or several washers to raise the rear of the hood. It lets there be a 1/2cm gap between the hood and the plastic covering to allow air to pass through the front grill over the turbo and out the other end right under the hood. Does anyone think this is efficiant. the only problem I see is the hood os not flush with the body.. Any thoughts? I will try and do it this weekend and post some pix... I am just tying to think of ways to help cool my turbo on the highway.. I have an oil cooler but I just dont think its enough

wow, this has been discussed before, but yes it will cool the engine bay, and yes it will not fit due to you moving the hood up, and yes there will be a gap.

Just remove the rubber strip that seals the back of the hood along where the wipers are. Same affect..

I've seen it done to some tCs on here, but don't know if they've done any test to see how big of a difference it was or if it was worth it?

Yep - this is an ooold mod V8 guys have used for a long time. We did it to a buddy's car and it looked kinda weird at first.. your hood doesn't line up obviously. But it did help the temps for sure.
