Default how bad is the lag?

my buddy currently has the trd supercharger, he loves it but wants more power. so he wants to go turbo, he just feels that the lag will be horrible compared to the sc. he wants like the dezod kit, or the TT kit.

Depends on how big of a turbo he decides to get really

I have a .48 a/r 60 trim, and it spools full boost around 2600 RPM's

I believe most people on here run a T3/T4 .63 a/r, and have quick spools also

Nope, no noticeably bad lag here either. You would have to run a huge turbo for lag to be a problem.

I have a full turbo toyota kit for sale BTW. Check the Classifieds!

i havea 50trim 50ar and i spool @ 3500 fully

Turbo is worth it though because we get full boost @ 3500 where S/C you dont get it till higher in the RPM range. You learn to drive to eliminate lag, let it wind out a little more and it just GOES

gt3076r here and lag is negligible, i even hit full boost 6-7 psi at part throttle where I only expect to boost at 3 psi.. lag exist but as the turbo starts spooling, it hit full boost fast.. and yeah there are several ways to manage lag

I don't mind the little lag a turbo might have. I think of it as what it'd feel like WITHOUT the turbo!

Makes me smile every time!

I would go t/c I had a s/c and the s/c does not have near the tq that the turbo has. I have a 50 trim .63 a/r and spools up around 2500 I'm boosting 7psi.

What boost if your buddy running? If he is running 7 lbs tell him to go up to 9.5 since he already has the charger. All he will need is the NST pulley and a new belt (which they tell you the size he needs). Other then that ...thats it. Or he can buy an ECU (which he will need for a turbo anyway) and get a custom 10.5-12lb pulley from NST and run that for a while. If he still wants to go turbo after that he will already have the ECU and just spent the xtra money on the pulley and new belt.

I'm thinking about adding a manual boost controller, but I'm still researching that avenue.

If he goes with a 12psi pulley I think he would need some bigger injectors also. Meth injection should be used also for a safety factor.

^he 100% would need bigger injectors for 12lb's and meth is always good thing to have ..even if you dont tune with it its good to have in any FI situation

I wonder if the Bosch 110 bpv would hold 12psi well.

im not sure - I think you would want to step up to the 007 instead. I dont think the bosch will handle over 10lbs

If you take the time to to design a kit with a turbo that suits your needs...

The turbo will spool just as fast as the S/C and kill it in the midrange and high end.

You get way more for your money from a Turbo than an S/C(for the Scions)

S/C(for the Scions) are made for a purpose.............that little extra hp that the dealers can offer for allot of $$$$ (when you look at return on investment)

Regards-

Todd

well we priced it with all the goodies that icenine has to make 300, such as ecu, injectors, pulley, intake, header, etc would be about $3200. could spend like 300 more and get the TT kit
