Default How to defeat speed/fuel cut in 07 SC tC?

Ok, so after reading MANY many threads about this, what is the final decision?

I want to buy a Unichip for my 07 SC tC, running the stock SC pulley (7lbs).

What happens is at 117mph, my car shuts down, then will kick back online after it drops a few MPH's. Before I had my SC installed (a few years ago) while the car was stock, it would hit the 127mph top out. After SC, it went down.
Which means I can hit fuel cut, in 4th gear, at about 5500rpms. This is horrible, and unacceptable to me. Not that I do this on public roads and such, but that I upgraded a vehicle, only to have the top speed downgraded.

So- Will a Unichip (programed for my mods, TRD exhaust, stock air box, stock pulley) be able to bypass this?

The other option I hear, is to get a 08 ECU, (but I still want the tune ability with the Unichip).

Do I need a 08 ECU AND a Unichip, or will the Unichip do what I am trying to accomplish? Its kind of pathetic that my 08 Yaris (108hp) will hit the same top speed my tC does.

The problem is buying a 08 ECU, then getting it TRD reflashed (or i guess I wouldn't if I was running the Unichip)??

_________

Any help would be appreciated. Looking to make the purchases this week and install next week.

Step 1)
Axe the TRD reflash

Step 2)
Axe the crappy Unichip

Step 3)
Get 08 ECU

Step 4)
Get Emanage Ultimate or Standalone and tune it.

Not exactly in that order but you get the idea. But if you aren't tracking your car, then what's the point of speed cut removal? Just so you can be a "Hard Parker?"

Well just to answer your direct question about why, first and foremost, if you boosted a car, ONLY to have it make it slower, wouldnt you be a little upset?

But, yes, yes I do. I also have 2 Honda streetbikes (03 rc51 1000r, and cbr1000rr) which I do VIR time with, so don't go be one of those "guys" that's going to try and insult someone when you don't even know whats going on. FWIW I have been faster than 99% of the people on this board would ever dare. My CBR stops at 192 (186mph before bazaaz eliminator+juice box). So, yeah, I am wanting the extra power that my car makes, BACK. You guys that went turbo in the prior or after years, would be ____ed too if your car LOST MPH in top end, which brings me to the point of I don't want a f_ng fuel cut in FOURTH GEAR.

So why bring up a stupid question of, "why do you want to go over 115mph". Its because a) I need it, b) my car DID it before the mod, and c) I want it back. I paid for it.. I dont mind hitting a fuel cut in 5th gear where the car ORIGINALLY STARTED, but I have a whole gear to still go through right now.

So thanks RS, I knew someone was going ask the stupid question at some point. And, pretty quickly, you were drawn right to it. My car is far from a daily driver, and only sees time at shows, and occasional driving. Its a shame to have a car that came originally with a certain MPH possible, then to have it restricted. It was the ONLY year to do that, and I am looking to fix it.

And I am not going stand-alone, or e-Manage ult. I want either the Unichip which is plug and play, or the FIC, which my local tuner can use. I don't want other options, that are more expensive, and will do the same exact thing.

ALSO, I am only looking for answers from people that HAVE done this, not a guess like R+S. I know someone on here has went from S/C to turbo, or stock to S/C on a 07, and bypassed the aforementioned RESTRICTION - because that's exactly what it is. I did not by a car to be "restricted" on going past a fourth gear.... f__ing stupid is what that is. Obviously Scion realized their mistake and did not make that on any more model years.

I gave you the benefit of the doubt by ASKING you rather than ASSUMING you are one of the many snot nose kids who come here wanting to go fast, and you respond with your lifes history..

Good one bud. And you asked a question to which I gave you the solution to, yet you want to continue with the parts you listed that WON'T do what you want. F/IC does not have speed cut removal and I'm sure the Unichip does not either. Secondly the Ultimate has a harness for the tC....I.E...its Plug and Play.

If you already have the answers to your own questions then why are you bothering to make a thread?

It's not a freaking guess, thendawg posted this crap in another thread, I could have just told you to Use the SEARCH button like most people get told when an answer has already been provided in prior threads. It's not even an old thread on top of that.

LOL...you must think I just sit at home and DD my car to the grocery store and that's it.

No not really a life history, I didnt delve into the many sportbikes ive had, the highly modded porsche 944 turbo (lindsey racing, and Horsepower Farm) I used to all the PCA events in, and even my mustang 5.0 days. So, FWIW, thanks for your answer, and glad you felt that you "had" to just ask the question that I see everyone else ride on people here about... Public speeding, so to answer your question again so you can understand it - NO I DONT. But I dont want to be hitting a fuel cut in 4th gear making any passes, AND to top it off, if I ever changed other options and went with a custom 6spd (that world racing is trying to produce) then I might REALLY be screwed.

So thanks RS. I guess your right, asking questions really isnt smart? There is more than ONE answer to this question, and I am trying to find out the best combination for me, without spending thousands of dollars, just to get BACK 15mph or so.

FWIW, I run Time Attack and HPDE days roughly 2-3 times a month during season, so when someone comes on asking about speed cut removal without giving any indication as to why they need such from the start, then it leads to opening that door for people to ask why are you trying to remove speed cut. I have speed cut removed via the Ultimate because I run track. So, the question wasn't to insult your intelligence, but rather to see where your head was at.

I don't know much about this. could it be that your injectors are to small or something with the fuel pump?

So no one has ever explained how the emanage speed cut works, I seriously think all it does is cut the vss to the ecu lol

No, injectors are fine - everyone else that is sc'd (except the 2007 model year) does not experience the fuel cut that I do. And I have talked with another 2007 SC owner in my area that I hang out with, and he knows he gets the same exact fuel cut, at the same RPMS. I cant tell if its 115, or 117mph because I am keeping my eyes peeled for whats in front of me, but I am thinking its 115mph, the speedo will go to 117mph because I am still gaining momentum until I hit the proverbial "brick wall" at the 115mph. I do know that the RPMS are turning less than 6k when I hit that cut point.

I talked to the guys at unichip (Aaron I believe) and he is saying yes that unichip CAN disable this, but the OTHER people using this are using it to remove the limiter (top end). I need to stop this fuel cut before I worry about having a top end stopping me. The other people all have cars that are PRE 2007, or post 2007, and I need the answers from someone who actually got around this the correct way. If I HAVE to spend the money I will, but honestly, I was hoping the unichip could just bypass this, using my stock 07 ECM unit, keeping the TRD tune.

Aside from that, the next answer seems I need a 08 ECU, (or newer). Id LOVE to find a 08+ ECU used from a SC'd car. Would make all this a little easier I think.

I know for a fact you cant bypass the rev limiter on the 07 ECU. I swapped mine for an 08 and it works flawlessly. (I have a thread a little bit down on the main FI page). Keep in mind this is NOT the same as the speed limiter.
In theory you really should be able to cut the speed limiter by just clipping the VSS wire to your ECU, however your cruise control wont work after this.

Dawg - were you hitting the same thing I was, at about 115 complete shutdown for approx 2 seconds?

I dont want to lose cruise control, however, maybe I could make a switch mounted under (inside) my dash in the footwell area, that when flipped, would then disable the cruise control, and VSS (obviously for racing purposes) then if i was street driving, I would have it toggled back to normal settings, where cruise would then work again.

Would that bypass swapping the ECU then? I still want to go the way of either the unichip or FIC for additional tuning, being a stock SC I realize the gains wont be huge, but the car could run better, make a little more power, and smooth out the powerband properly.

I just don't understand why your car cuts out at 115mph?

My 06 S/C tC did 127mph bone stock and still did 127mph with S/C and TRD Tune, just a lot faster ;p... Strange

Depending on tire size, 115 in 4th will be right on the stock limiter. Try shifting around 6000ish in 4th and see if you can go higher than 115 in 5th. Hitting speed cut (even in the 07) is nothing like hitting the rev limit, it sort of just surges, what youre talking about sounds like hitting the rev limiter.

http://www.pdfhost.net/index.php?Act...54e1e1c8e72e6d

There's a list of rpm vs mph using the tC gear ratios.
This is based on a 225/45/17 tire. The speed you achieve will be slightly less due to the tire deforming.

Oh and keep in mind, regardless of tire size, the speed on that pdf will still be close to your speedo due to the speedo being calibrated based on stock tire size Your ACTUAL speed may be higher when checked via GPS if you have larger tires.

I hit the rev limit at 110 in 4th gear (~6500 RPM) and require 5th gear to get above 110 MPH.... if you are hitting 115 in 4th then something is wrong. I have an 05 by the way and I am 99% sure our gearing is exactly the same.

Yeah gearing is the same all years Like I said, that chart is based on theoretical tire size which will not be 100% accurate due to the tires deforming.
