How long has your TC trd supercharger lasted?

In their defense, it was their first install, but meh, I guess, that IS weird.
When I had it replaced at Vortech, they referred to it as the "locking retainer" so that's what I just referred to it as here. *shrugs*

I am going to upgrade one of these days. I have had multi t/c rides but they were all manf with a turbo, i just did upgrades. I think thats a safe bet since the internals are built a little tougher than most. To take a N/A car and turbo/ pound on it scares me. I don't care about the turbo breaking, more worried about the internals failing.
I think S/C are a safe bet.
I think S/C are a safe bet.

NORMAL MAINTENANCE GUIDELINES:
1. Clean the supercharger oil inlet fitting every 3,000
miles. When the vehicle is cold, remove the oil inlet
fitting at the supercharger and clean it thoroughly
utilizing high pressure air to blow the orifice clean
before reinstallation. Do not attempt to remove the
screen/filter inside of the oil feed fitting. This oil
inlet fitting is designed with a very small orifice,
which provides a mist of oil directly onto the gears.
Never use Teflon tape or other sealants on any oil
feed line fitting. Do not overtighten fittings.
2. Follow the heavy duty/severe usage maintenance
schedule in your vehicle owner’s manual. Use the
manufacturer’s engine oil and oil filter recommendations.
Do not use engine oil additives as they
may contain solid particulates which can clog the
supercharger feed line.
3. Spark plug/ignition system guidelines. Always
utilize the stock specified heat range for street legal
applications. For off-road use only, use one range
colder than originally specified and reduce the gap
to .032" - .040". If your vehicle is equipped with an
ignition amplifier such as a Crane HI-6R or MSD
6A, reducing the spark plug gap is not necessary.
Never utilize platinum plugs on a vehicle not
originally equipped with platinum plugs from the
factory. Every 15,000 miles, check to ensure spark
plug wires are within factory specified resistance.
Replace whenever beyond specification or every
50,000 miles, whichever comes first. This may be
contrary to factory recommended intervals, but is
consistent with the use of the Vortech supercharger
system on most vehicles. Vortech also
offers high performance ignition wire sets for
certain applications. If equipped, inspect the
condition of the distributor cap and rotor every
15,000 miles. Replace as conditions warrant or
every 50,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Vortech recommends OEM or equivalent replacement
parts.

Yes, that problem isn't relation to maintainance. Its relationed with installation and chimming........

When the seal breaks and oil get sucked into the throttle body entering the combusting chamber and effing up all your piston rings. My compression in all four cylinders is in the 80's. It's supposed to be 180-190 average. Yay friend motor, hello rebuild.

Im pretty shure oil will not destroy a engine, it will just burn if off in the cyclinder. Sounds like a internal engine problem plus the boost equaled your problem. Anyone else with info on their trd s/c?

I'm on my second SC. The first one (05-06 model) crapped out and took the short block with it after about a year. Luckily it was all under the 60k mi warranty. The new motor and revised 07 SC have been kicking along just fine and I beat on it pretty hard. ...I'll check how many miles I have on it so far.

BPV - no
cold air intake - no but might give you a hard time.

well it comes down to paying, 3000+ for new and install... where i could pick up a used one for like 1000... better bet to go cheap and mod so if it breaks oh well. or pay more for less power but have warranty?

sounds good.. thanks.. oh, do you know if a part from the supercharger kit breaks, bearings etc, can i order parts from toyota? or shop new charger? sorry for so many questions... just wanna make sure before dropping the money
