This is a noob question, but what does a 2step launch do? I've heard of it many times just never understood what it did.

Cuts ignition (sometimes fuel too), so that you can hold the car at a destined RPM (even if you have your foot at 100% throttle). In the case of having a turbo, it spools the turbo at the line without having to move. I.E....you launch IN boost. Without a 2step, you can not launch in boost, you launch and then have to hit boost if you don't have a 2step.

Only options for us to have 2step launch control, in order of least expensive to most:

- WOT Box

- Emanage Ultimate

- Hydra Standalone

Launching in 2nd I'm pretty sure is not good on the tranny. Compensate that with better tires and increase in rpms.

I still launched in 1st i just never gave WOT in first. I'd just get the ca rmoving and shift to 2nd right away.

My brother was able to run a 12.82 at 112mph doing that on 18" street tires.

It's called a 2 step becuase you use both feet, you bottom out the clutch and you bottom out the throttle. You 2 step it!

It builds boost prior to launch, as rhythmnsmoke said, by building heat (hot air) on the turbine side of the turbo which is the energy to spin the turbine and produce the pre launch boost. Most people consider this part of the 2 step but this is actually drag style turbo anti-lag, there is also a rally style of anti-lag.

BTW, all of which the AEM EMS is capable of.
