Smoothness will not come from the choice of MAF location. It will come from the engine management and the tune. I can not emphasize that enough. I have done blow through and pull throughs with identical setups and virtually no difference except in light throttle transient movement. Other than that, it's all down the engine management and the guy behind the keyboard.
then in autocross, coming off that last turn and trying to power out of the last turn into the stop box and slamming on the brakes, it can sometimes get flooded and stall.

yeah, that is exactly when i have the drivability issues. in stop and go traffic it can be alittle sloppy, and in parking lots, backing in and out of spots.
