Exactly. I'm running 7psi and 272 WHP, and my tune is still running VERY rich so I don't have to worry about blowing my engine up.

in all honestly guys.. i think 270 + is pushing it if you realy want that motor to last.. i'd keep it around 220-230 on a stock motor ..

once you go past 250 i suggest ARP head studs atleast for safety

once you go past 300 ish.. you will defenitely see head lift at which point ARP head studs are gonna be a must! and most probably from that point begin planning a rebuild or a new motor.. 300 on that stock block will last a while but defenitely not a lengevity motor...

with 220-230 u should be able to beat alot of cars given u can get the traction problem fixed with some radials lol

just because your running rich.. that doesnt mean your motor wont blow..

270 hp is still alot of stress on a motor that has pistons with low piston rings...how long do you expect your motor to last at that mark... i hope not 100k miles..you'll be lucky if you do..

^^Some of us are in the business of going faster, not Longevity of the motor....LOL.

If it was about motor longevity, then don't go turbo period.

+1 on the 220-230whp beating a lot of cars though. Louis with is Stage 0 does have an extended kill list.

I doubt you will see any 100k mile motor boosted tC's without at least a couple of problems, no matter how much HP they are running.

I don't plan on owning a tC for 100k miles anyway lol. This is just my toy for now. ARP head studs are not gonna be a must for 300+HP. They don't hurt, but they are not a must, ur talkin about goin into the motor at that point and I'm talkin about the motor will hold 350hp STOCK. Its just there's a lot of "options" u can do for saftey reasons, like the 10 people who told me "after 240WHP ur gonna definitley need a tranny cooler!"
Haven't installed one yet...
Don't need to...

Obviously I don't mean your motor will blow as soon as you hit 12-14psi. Stock internals will not hold that much psi for a long time no matter the tune, unless you never go into boost, race, etc(in that case whats the point of boosting). Your rods will be the first to go in 2az-fe...

Last time I checked, Piston's are the first to go.

im all for going fast trav. but i plan on keeping my tc for as along as i can so i can save up for fact. turbo car like an evo or sti...

but what do i care lol im all motor love lol..

BTW.... im sure you could push a low boost 2az to 100k miles.. why not.. look at the all tracks and 4ag's.. low boost high mileage and still kicking ___.. granted.. its low boost but even low boost lets say at 220 hp or 230...with the TQ we make.. its a very good car to slap alot of others around...

Here we go again... I heard of more people busting their rods than pistons but I am not about to argue with you in another thread. Either way, my initial point was that realistically speaking, your engine will not last long with over 12psi. I am not saying it can't be done, but if some joe schmo reads this thread with everyone exaggerating the stock capabilities, he may get in trouble.

How's Kenny? Did you forge his rod today?

Sounds like you like his rod more than anyone, as you are the first to bring up his name into a totally unrelated thread.

Question: How long have you been boosted? How many boosted tC's are actually physically in your sites that you have witnessed Rod failure before piston failure? If you could point me in the direction of rods going out before Pistons/Piston rings in the 2az, I would be greatly appreciative.

What do you want, for me to conduct a survey? Its not that serious. I am basing my conclusion on a couple of threads and mainly my mechanic that worked on 3 tcs not including mine. Of the 2 boosted TCs he has worked on, 1 threw out a rod, 1 is fine, one he just installed a wet kit on. Hes worked on cars in 3 different countries and has done it for over 40 years. I would take his word over yours, Kenny's, or ZPI's any day. Now I want to make something clear, I am not saying that pistons cant be the first to go, hell it could be a lot of different things, since you like to pick and choose things to put a spin on.

Btw, hows your tc doing, what was wrong with it again?

Okay, so final word...GReddy kit is a decent kit, as long as you get the wastegate inspected? How can you check to see if a wastegate will fail or stick or whatever, anyway? Still a bit of a n00b about turbos...hope I haven't forpinks'ed myself yet.
