I want a turbo but dont now where to begin.
Ok If I don't get my engine bored, CAI, headers, and super charger... Then I will get a turbo but do not now where to begin. I dont know what I need, I dont know how much I need. I don't know if Ill need a new clutch / pistons / valves. I just dont know but I'd lie to learn.
What would I need just to have a standard DIY turbo or maybe a kit already put together. Do I need a new clutch? Pistons? Valves? How much would I need to make something that will last and wont flip up my car. I don't plan on racing accept the occasional af ew races every summer, spring and now and then at the drag strip.
Yes It will be my daily driver and I was told to get this one but I don't know if its suggested. Its at a reasonable price, and has avg of 260 HP which is enough to float my boat. I just want it to be legal crab emissions and not flip my engine.

ok
rule 1
don't buy the greddy kit.
rule 2
you WILL need a new clutch no matter what turbo you go with
other than that its pretty open.
you can really get away with any turbo on the market. they are all pretty reliable. dezod and turbotoyotas kit seems to be the most popular right now but there are many threads about them. for a DIY turbo you'll need:
injectors
fmic
turbo (durr)
manifold
bov
bov flange
standalone ecu (or piggy back)
couplers
piping
spark plugs
if you run under 9 psi there is no reason why you need to build the block and for 260 whp you wont need to do so.

For the turbo - either go with Dezod or turbonetics ... If i was to get a turbo ide go dezod. You can run 8.5lbs and meet your 260whp goal without any engine work. Change your exhaust and you can add 20whp to your total ...so if you were at 250 add +20 - Since you are shooting for a low hp number for a turbo setup you will be very happy with a turbo from dezod and a 2.5 catback exhaust

What about the issues many have with oil leaks or things breaking and how would I break it in? How could I be a daily driver and then again pump it on the track once in a while w out ruining it?

What about this http://www.dezod.com/pd_dezod_motors...on_tc_0506.cfm
Are there any turbos by Dezod or Turbonetics that are around 3000. Just curious...

I will say what I say to all when it comes to this.
Do your homework. If you cant put in the research time to understand how the stock engine really works and how a boosted application works (enough to at least do some basic troubleshooting on your own), then dont do anyting to it. I see and hear about so many that know little to nothing about a car going out and having someone slap on a kit... then they either tear it up due to not knowing what they are doing or get screwed by some shop because they know you dont know anything.
Not saying you dont, but I just answered some questions in your thread saying you dont want to go turbo and want other hp mods. So play it safe and learn learn learn ahead of time. For those that dont want to learn that stuff and still have a boosted car, just go buy a boosted car off the shelf.

Keep doing what you are doing, ask lots of questions.
I am going to help you with your education by asking you questions.
Why do you want a supercharger?
And being if you have researched the sc what made you consider a turbo?
Will start there

Keep doing research on the various kits. I just installed my turbonetics kit with gauges for about 4500 bucks and love it. So I recomend that kit but Ive heard goood things about other kits too. The kit bolted up very easily I thought and runs great.

I encourage you to ask TONS of questions as well! Email and PM me. Call me if need be. I would love to help you get into something that will suit your needs 100%. I am resource and will provide you with the knowledge you need to make a decision even if it is not with a Dezod turbo.

haha. Well I forgot to ask these 2 questions. How do you know if you need a new turbo turbine setup? And how many miles on avg does a dezod last? I hope I'm impressed by this!
OH! And what is the #1 mistake that people overlook turbo problems or changes in the way it sounds or moves.
